Right, here's achance for you all to feed into the activities of the club. You may have noticed there is mention of a first official fans' forum on the LFC website. Well, yours truly has been invited to be a member of said forum. The first one takes place on Monday night, at Anfield, and it is specifically concerned with liverpoolfc.tv.

So, between now and Monday afternoon, I would be more than happy to have you fill in this thread with any concerns/issues/comments/questions that you may have with regard to the official liverpool website. I will take them along and endeavour to get comments on as many of them as possible.

Fire away ...

Congrats, Matt!

No suggestions from me. For the most part I'm happy with the site.

Regarding the official web site, my major concern is having to pay for live audio commentrary of matches.

I understand the need for charging for video highlights and other enhanced services. But I would like to them re-consider having to pay for live audio.

After all you can easily listen to another premiership team's site if necessary. This would be a gesture to the fans they have all over the world without access to a radio in Britain, and it would probably increase site traffic.

Many of us are married with kids and the e-season ticket is not an option in an increasingly tight budget. Especially with the current state of the economy.

I am sure other fans have similar ideas, but the one stated above is my major concern.

I second that, to the letter.

I too think that audio comm should be free. Charge for the enhanced commentary, video highlights etc, but keep the audio free. I have paid for the e-season ticket two years running, but I seldom use anything but the audio. Slide show commentary lags badly and therefore I don't use it. The chatroom no longer has text commentary, which is fine because it was always ahead of the audio.

Matt:

Congratulations on your inclusion in the Forum—and thanks for asking for our input!

Suggestions for LFC.TV:

· Match day webcasts: I believe that the prematch show now includes live images of Anfield for the hour prior to kickoff. If that’s permanently the case, great (I missed the prematch segment this week)—if not, it should be made permanent; I think it helps add to the pre-match atmosphere for those of us far away.

· I realize that this is a matter of personal preference, but please ask them to consider changing the music that opens the prematch show—if I want something that sounds like a porno soundtrack, I’ll open another browser window (I'm joking, of course). But seriously: What’s wrong with YNWA??

· If possible, get the matchday show archived sooner (same-day would be great!)

· Press conferences: I don’t know if this is strictly an lfc.tv issue, but it wouldn’t hurt to give the journalists access to a microphone during the GH press conferences—more than half the time, I cannot make out the question being asked (and thus I can’t really appreciate GH’s answers).

· Shop: Bigger, bigger, bigger—More stuff online! Even consider adding a small line of inexpensive “liverpoolfc.tv” merchandise (t-shirts, mugs, etc.), to promote the web site.

· Also consider offering an Online-store discount to e-season ticket holders: members of the Official Supporters Club get a 10% discount on purchases, and if I’m not mistaken, I’m paying nearly twice as much for the e-season ticket as I am for my Supporter’s Club annual membership.

· Make the audio-only portion free, as has been suggested by others. It’s already available free through alternative sources (other clubs’ web sites, for example). If the market is going to gravitate toward free stuff, then it’s best to have them get that free stuff from LFC—in the long run, they’ll capture at least a portion of that market for the pay-features, or increase traffic around the online store.

Again, congrats and thanks--I look forward to hearing how the Forum turns out.

This is a point I hadn't considered, but when looking at that portion of the site it is remarkable the small amount of stuff they have available. More please.

I haven't checked the site completely, but I would like to see a collection of videos and dvd's that are compatible to the US market. Most I have seen are compatible to the UK market only.

But my point about free audio comms is a higher priority than this

Getting them to be made US-Compatible is more of a merchandising issue than website-related, but, yeah, it would be nice to be able to get some good History of LFC videos in NTSC format.

Great idea.

Funny thing--I was just surfing E-Bay this morning, looking (until the frustration got the better of me) for US-compatible LFC videos and DVDs.

I don't know what the market would be for something
like that, though--and thus whether it would be practical for LFC to do it.

But (and this is off-topic, so I'll be brief) this whole issue (LFC videos) may be a good topic for one of those "sticky" threads (such as the GH Emails and the LFC on TV threads).

You see, that’s where you Yanks are your own worst enemies. I mean, who on earth buys a single-region DVD player these days? And yet, you go to any electrical store in the US and whaddaya know - US only is the norm. Bizarro! So I’m tempted to exlude that one from my list, just to teach you all a lesson.

Just kidding. I’ll ask.

Full run-down of this evening’s events here tomorrow at some point.
