Here's the list again, with all of the results I have been able to find. Some impressive attendance figures for a few of the games. The sheer number of matches is approaching the volume of games during the heyday of the international tours back in the 1950s and early 1960s! It's good to see the large browds in Detroit, Atlanta, San Francisco, etc. that rarely get such matches. This year there are finally a lot of matches involving MLS teams and they have been doing fairly well. Hope I didn't miss anything! The MLS teams are always surprising me by beating some European top teams. Are the European teams not giving all they have or is American soccer just that good? It's unfortunate the USA is at the other side of the Atlantic, because it would be interesting to see what the MLS teams could achieve in the Champions League and Europa League.
A lot of it is simply the fact that teams in the middle of their seasons do better than teams in their off season. I think that MLS teams are better than many non-Americans give them credit for, but in summer games against European teams, they do have the advantage that in-season teams always have over off-season touring teams.
It's most likely the Euro teams aren't taking it seriously since they hold our teams in very low regard anyway.
It's not that they hold MLS teams in low regard. It's just that its preseason and thus these matches are used purely to get players match-fit. Doesn't matter if they are playing an MLS team or a top European side.
