Default Split of Referee Fees

What is the split of game fees that you are currently seeing? In the past, we have basically had a split of approximately 40/30/30. Suddenly, this weekend, the split announced by the assignor, not at a meeting, is EQUAL for all 3 officials. Not sure if this came from an out of touch board, or a wild hair to make the new grade 8 feel good. This particular referee association has very a LARGE number percentage of National and Grade 5 officials, and are suddenly being innundated by newly certified officials.

The local leagues here do an equal split as well. When the fee payment is unequal, it puts more of a demand by referees to get CR instead of AR. Since you need two ARs for every CR, it left a lot of people unhappy when some weekends they were never CR and thus didn't get paid as much. For older refs this isn't a very big deal but it's a big concern when referring to youth and college-age referees.

Most of what I see is closer to 50/25/25. For high school it's a little higher for the AR's, but definitely more for the CR. The CR has great responsibility and requires more physical effort. I haven't heard too many complaints with our system. We have a wide variety of experience, and try to get the required experience for each assignment.

Yes, depending on the age group anywhere from $45 to $65 for centers, and $28-$35 for assistants.

i do'nt feel like putting it into %ages, but here's how we work. center gets age+2, AR gets age-2 (U13 C=15, AR=11). the only diff is U18...i do'nt know what center gets, AR gets 14

Around here in Southwestern Michigan and in Indiana, here's the scales...

First of all, in High School, CR & AR's all get the same. The assignor doesn't assign who does the center vs. who are the AR's. The 3 officials at the game decide at game time. We decide based upon level of game, level of the 3 referees and who's worn out from doing too many games over the last few nights. For JV, most schools pay $35 each and for Varsity, most schools pay $45 -- at least that's what the association has set as the standard. We still have a few schools only paying $40 for varsity but we also have a few of the outlying schools paying $50 or even $55 per game regardless of whether it's JV or Varsity.

In the USSF games, the Center always makes more around here. For National League games, U17&U18 are 40/30/30. U15&U16 are 30/25/25. For local travel games, the price range is along the lines of:

U10-U12: $20/15/15
U13-U14: $25/20/20
U15-U16: $30/20/20
U17-U19: $40/25/25

In the league I do town youth matches, individual rates are set by each town. The average rates are as follows:

U12 CR $19.89/AR $12.81 44%/28%/28%

U14 CR $23.88/AR $14.54 45%/27.5%/27.5%

U16 CR $34.55/AR $18.00 49%/25.5%/25.5%

U19 CR $45.00/AR $19.80 53%/23.5%/23.5%

There is actually a pretty wide spread in the rates for same level games from town to town in this league:

U12 CR 16-25; AR 10-16

U14 CR 18-25; AR 10-18

U16 CR 30-40; AR 15-20

U19 CR 40-50; AR 15-23
