In this corner, with a completely new badge done in a minimalist style, the Vancouver Whitecaps.

And in this corner, with a retooled badge that pays homage to previous club badges but given a slightly cartoon-like twist, the Portland Timbers.

Portland hasn't even revealed it yet so not sure if that's the real thing or not. If it is its not official yet.

And it is official: that is the crest. And boy did the fans hate it.

    Boos.

Chants: "You f***ed up! You f*** up!"

Chants: "That's so shitty it's unbelievable!"

    More boos.

Very awkward watching it stream live. Barely any clapping.

The crest looks a lot better on the kit! Thinner lines make a difference.

I think the Portland logo is amazing. The now huge axe is what makes this logo even more unique as it was before. How many soccer- or sports clubs in general have an oversized axe in it's crest.

I think the club has done a good job.

I'm not that crazy about Portland's logo right now, but that might change. At least they maintained some semblence of tradition, which I can't say the same about Vancouver's corporaty logo.

That second pic of the Timbers crest looks better. They're both pretty sharp but not garish.

The Caps badge is growing on me. It's a new look for a team whose badge was in desperate need of retooling.

Portland's new logo is just an absolute travesty. Somehow, the minor-league team going major managed to take their major-league crest and make it minor league.

They're both terrible. Both cities had good bases laid out for them and they still messed it up. Vancouver's lacks heart and passion. There is absolutely nothing for fans to stand behind in that crest and be proud of. It looks like a generic corporate logo for a company like Initech. The giant "Vancouver Whitecaps FC" wordmark is unneccessary and takes up too much space, yet there is too much empty space in the middle. Should have just been Vancouver FC with nickname Whitecaps. A whitecap is a wave and they lost that. Very cold, disengaging crest that could be for anything and doesn't symbolize Vancouver at all. Why haven't teams learned that you can't go wrong with a traditional, classy crest? See Toronto/Philadelphia. They will stand the test of time. This? Will not.

Portland? Holy hell. Took a great logo. Built up some suspense with some well made ads, and gave us a minor league baseball logo. Terrible, cheesy, cartoon crest. Another crest that will not stand the test of time.

Thought we were moving in the right direction with crests but Seattle, Vancouver and Portland have really set us back. I grade all 3 F's.

Yeah! Why couldn't they do it up like the Redbull crest?

They're basically the same; however, I like Vancouver's new logo better than Portland's new logo because of how excellent the old Timbers logo was. Portland's new logo is obviously worse than their old one.

I like the Portland logo better, although I do agree with some that have posted that it looks a bit cartoony. Thinner lines will definitely help

sit down and shut up you know nothing about cascadian teams history except for what you heard from others, and ya the TFC badge screams history:rolleyes:, the portland is a step down since the one they have now is a lot better but the whitecaps one is a big step up, and it doesn't matter what some guy in New York thinks because basically everyone from vancouver likes the new caps badge and that's what matters.

Portlands old logo was far superior.

Vancouver didn't impress me at first but it will grow on me easily, Portland I actually like, love the green , thought Seattle would have gone with that green instead of that ugly neon they have.
Both are better than a few actual logo (Crew, Sj and KC).

Stop comparing both logos to they're old one until someone uploads they're previous logo. Can't remember what they look like.

    Good night, Bright!!!

That thing isn't real is it? It is nearly as garish as the 1996 MLS jerseys!

I can hear Portland burning to the ground right now...
