What is the all time WC team?
What is according to you the best side you can put toghether out of all WC players of the past?
my entry:
Zoff
Carlos Alberto - Passarella - Beckenbauer - Maldini
Boniek - Zidane - Garrincha
Cruijff - Pele - Maradonna
In my defense, a lot of attacking impulse and constructiveness, which means that Passarella would have to do most of the dirty work, but he wouldn't mind.
My midfield is pretty basic, allthough i know i'm very unorthodox by putting Boniek on the right of midfield, but he could handle it.
The three maestros of the game make up my attack, allthough one of three should drop back in midfield, i'll let them decide among themselves who it should be

Code:
Lev Yashin
Jozsef Bozsik Franz Beckenbauer Bobby Moore
Lothar Matthaus
Johan Cruyff Pele Diego Maradona
Sandor Kocsis Ferenc Puskas
Gerd Muller
A quite attacking line up. Matthaus would be the holding midfielder, in front of 3 outstanding defenders, and could cover when Beckenbauer comes forward. Pele would play deep as the playmaker, with Cruyff and Maradona given free roles. Kocsis and Puskas would flank Muller, who would also drop deep along the lines of Hidgekuti in the classic Hungarian side.

I just thought I'd freshen up the all-time greats lists with some overlooked alternates. I chose players selecting one from each from a list of countries that never won the WC. USA and right-back were unused so... why not? Sanneh did have a very good tournament. I think my team would give Pele, Beckenbaur, Maradonna and company a good match.

I don't know? Eusebio would run circles around most of the players you all named.

Nice call on Zamora. Easily the best pre-WWII keeper, and the only serious rival to Yashin as best ever.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure that Kubala played in the World Cup. (although he was a truly great player, it's just a pity most of the world hasn't heard of him)
