Anyone been infected by ( from what I now precieve to be) MlS-rumors.net? My computer caught a nasty virus last week that my IT folks were able to clear from my computer. I did not want to believe that it came from that site but I was back there during lunch today and as the site pulled up another screen poped and try to redirect me to another site claiming to be the real mls-rumors. Anyone (who admits to frequenting that site) have the same problem? WTF? I go to that site on the reg and now I am too freaked out to.

It is a well known fact that reading MLSRumors will make you sterile, flacid, and cause you to develop scabies. Stay away from MLSRumors.

They also don't actually have any news or interesting rumors, so there's really no reason to go there except to read commentary by idiots. (Yes, their commenters are pricelessly stupid - much more so than your average site. :D)

    Is that good or bad?

most likely your virus came from a malicious external ad embeded on their site, not necessarily from the site itself. (some unpatched browsers can allow your computer to become infected with malware just by viewing a malicious ad.) this is true from any website using external ad servers.

your options to prevent this type of infection are:
    1) install all the patches for your browser and operating system, and keep your antivirus updated (i'd suggest using the free Microsoft Security Essentials).

    or

    2) block ads (eg. using Firefox + adblockplus). (note, even with this you can still view the nice yahoo storefront ads here on bigsoccer! hah)

Still better than getting a virus from an MLS player. There's no cure for that.

If you go to that site regularly you deserve a virus that not only infects your computer, but somehow also jumps through the keyboard and gives you herpes.

Why do so many people hate MLS rumors? What happened? Did i miss the memo? I remember they had some issues with Crew fans, but what else?

They openly lie, make things up, libel, and plagiarize....all to get suckers to visit their website so they can sell advertising and make money off of lies, libel, plagiarism, and stuff they made up.

Yea... I mean but thats how sites like that are. Its like Gossip sites iwth celebrities sorta. Or the tabloids at the groccery stores. lol

Im not gonna lie, i dont mind checking stuff like that out, same with MLS rumors even if half the stuff may not be true.... Maybe thats just me though.

But they aren't trying to pass themselves off as a grocery store tabloid. They aren't trying to pass themselves off as purely entertainment. They are trying to pass themselves off as a news worthy site. And the only stuff they ever have that is even remotely true is stuff they steal from reputable journalists and then try to pass it off as their own.

So like I said, anyone who regularly visits that site deserves to get a virus that destroys their computer, and in a perfect world, gives the user herpes too.

Haha. Yea true, they should just come out and say they are a 'rumors' site like say a TMZ or soemthing. And with how tough it is for the damn site to load, stopped me from going almost completely, i forgot it existed until this thread came up.

It's not that they post rumors; it's that they post lies -- shit they just make up out of the blue and post as a "rumor". That's very different from posting rumors.

All this is true. However, I suspect that the involvement with the infamous Jade with that site might drive some of the hatred. Either way, it is a site that needs to be avoided at all costs.
