I agree somewhat with Greenie, although Robinson did make a number of fine saves for the Dirty Ones...

A very disappointing result, but the performance was generally OK.

Central defence was shambolic - O'Brien and Bramble had no understanding whatsoever and full backs Hughes and Bernard kept being pulled out of position to cover for them.

Shola Ameobi tries hard but never looks like a Premiership player. I have never seen anyone so tall (6' 4") be so ineffective in the air. Shola played because Lua Lua was allegedly "tired" after playing in Libya for DR Congo - another view is that he was left out to punish him for going there.

There was a good atmosphere at the ground; very strong support for the Toon until the second goal went in - suddenly 10,000 people remembered they had a bus to catch!

On another night and against a different goalkeeper we might have scored four. In comparison with some defeats last season (e.g. Spurs and Liverpool at home) this one didn't leave me feeling downcast.

Yesterday's match shows the risk of playing a bunch of young ones in the back...they will only get better with experience.

Amoebi showed more hustle than he has in a while, but I think he needs more playing time as well to determine whether he can make it at the top level.

And good for Bobby that he sat LuaLua...

Unfortunately I think it was more a matter of our boys making Robinson look good rather than him carring his club... the only truly great chance that he denied was Nobby's crack in the second half.

Otherwise, we put a lot of shots straight at the keeper, and short of his being telekinetic he had nothing to do with Ameobi and O'Brien missing the net with their 6-yard headers.

Quality finishing means the keeper has no chance. Both of the Leeds goals are fine examples of this.

Here's hoping Bellamy is ready to start against Chelsea this weekend.

What a fine display by Leeds last night. I didn't see any of this so called "dirtiness" unless you mean a few wild newcastle challenges

It was a very entertaining match and I as well left without any bad feelings (except from that little car where you buy a cheeseburger for 1.20)

The better side did win last night, but so you don't feel too bad, that is the best we have played all season. It sure was nice to win at St. James though, especially after last season where i missed Smith's goal because i was walking up the 8billion steps to get to the away section.

If by anychance you saw a big american flag in the Leeds uppercorner, that was me....(holding it, not being it.)
