No kidding the pressure is on. I am in full agreement that a loss would be a disappointment - even if it is in Scotland - given Scotland's current struggles.

Scotland is playing another qualifying match on Oct.12 before they play Canada, which, depending on the result, could put them into a more positive or foul mood by the time they play us in the friendly.

Any loss is a disappointment to me, no matter who we play, but without ever having seen the Faroes play & knowing very little about the quality of their current squad I'd be reluctant to feel a greater sense of disappointment if Canada loses simply because of this result.

But it really is not just this result though. Scotland has been struggling and now thr manager is being critisized by the Captain (Ferguson is Capt. isn't he?). I suppose it will depend on the lineup Canada dresses for me. If Klukowski, and a few other young Canadians are integrated into the side and injuries keep out a key player or too then a loss will not indicate much. But if we go with our first team and lose, I for one, will be surprised. Of course, I don't expect to see much credit given to Canada if they do win since it will be dismissed as a victory over or a draw with a struggling side.

My hope is to see some of the younger guys, who we are hoping to get ready for the Olympic and U-20 qualifying get a chance. I know that fact that 5-6 of the U-19s dressing for the Algrave (sic?) Cup contributed to their fine performance at the recent U-19 WWC. So getting Klukowsi, Dunfield, Belotte, HUme, De Guzman etc. some time would be a good thing, win or lose IMHO.

Even though the match is in Scotland one would have to say that Canada is the favorite. It really is a match your side should win. Especially if Stalteri and Radzinski play.

True, though you have to remember this match wasn't held in Scotland as ours will be. And the same old bug-bear, our players won't have played together since May, the Scots will have played regularly - several matches for the national side but also some players at the club level. I bet the Faroes did not have the same disadvantage. The game is on a Tuesday, some Canucks play at club level on the Saturday before, leaving some two days of preparation time for the squad - not much. The friendly should mainly be used to look at a few new players that you mention above & to try to keep the regulars familiar with each other as we prepare for the 2003 Gold Cup.

I suspect we can beat the Scots, but I don't think we should be expecting to simply waltz into Edinburgh & smoke them - I don't think that many teams can find beating the Scots in Scotland a cake-walk, unless of course the Scots have gotten far worse from when I last saw them play.

Are we? Our coach was quoted the other day as wishing that Canada had as many EPL players as Scotland does.

I don't know the cause of the Scot's current troubles & I do like Canada's chances with our improving squad, but I'm not sure I'd put down Canada as favourites to beat Scotland in Scotland.

I'll be at the match so I'll have good view to compare the strengths of each squad.

Scottish people have EU status. Very few North Americans do. I think there are lot of footballers from this region who are premiership quality. However to get a premiership contract as a foreigner you have to be at a much higher standard than the local players. Also, many of Scotland's "EPL players" are bench warmers. I'd take a starter from England's 1st division than a bench warmer from the EPL any day.

2 goal scorer John Petersen is, according to ESPN Soccernet, a professional...........school teacher. Although I am sure he plays in the Faroes domestic league as well. I wonder if Canadian Supporter is lurking as he seemed to be "up" on the Faroes.
