Default Amistoso: Brasil x Inglaterra, 14 de novembro 2009 [R] pbp

It's only 2 weeks and change from now so here's the thread.

X

-----------------------------
FICHA TÉCNICA:
BRASIL X INGLATERRA

Estádio: Khalifa International Stadium, Doha (QAT)
Data/hora: 14/11/2009 - 17h (de Brasília)
Árbitro: Năo divulgado
BRASIL: Julio Cesar, Maicon, Lúcio, Thiago Silva (Naldo) e Michel Bastos; Gilberto Silva, Lucas (Felipe Melo), Elano e Kaká; Nilmar e Luis Fabiano. Técnico: Dunga.
INGLATERRA: Foster, Brown, Lescott, Warnock (Terry) e Brigde; Barry, Carrick, Wright-Phillips e Young; Crouch e Rooney. Técnico: Fábio Capello.
------------------------------

Call-up, as reported in the friendlies thread:

Julio Cesar (Inter Milan), Doni (AS Roma); Maicon (Inter Milan), Daniel Alves (Barcelona), Michel Bastos (Lyon), Fabio Aurelio (Liverpool), Lucio (Inter Milan), Juan (AS Roma), Luisao (Benfica), Naldo (Werder Bremen); Elano (Galatasaray), Kaka (Real Madrid), Gilberto Silva (Panathinaikos), Josue (Wolfsburg), Lucas Leiva (Liverpool), Ramires (Benfica), Felipe Melo (Juventus), Alex (Spartak Moscow), Carlos Eduardo (Hoffenheim), Julio Baptista (AS Roma); Luis Fabiano (Sevilla), Hulk (FC Porto), Nilmar (Villarreal), Robinho (Manchester City)

I'll add England once it's out.

For this thread: be nice if any England fans post, if someone trolls, don't reply: report it. As far as friendlies go this is a relatively big one, two of the favorites for 2010 meeting at the end of a fantastic year for both.

We also may as well use this for the Oman game on the 18th so I'll keep it open for that unless it's too long.

Some articles from Brazil:

UOL: Dunga convoca Fabio Aurelio, Hulk e mais dois novatos

IO Globo: Quatro Novidades

Here are some English reports of the call-up:

Sky Sports: Aurelio earns recall

The Guardian: Aurelio and Lucas called for Mideast games

ITV: Untried pair called for friendlies

A little mixed about some of the players called up. But then again, it is a friendly, it is in Europe, so Baptista, Lucas, Josue kind of make sense. And in a way I'm also happy to see Hulk and Nilmar in the side, even though I doubt Hulk will be on the roster for 2010. if only Ronaldao had gone onto the Biggest Loser. Fabio Aurelio - I remember him from the youth team days.

England will also be in a similar mold. Most likely Owen will be unavailable and depending on Rooney's fitness, he might not participate either. Rio Ferdinand has been having a very difficult season as well, so it's possible he could be dropped in favor of giving Joleon Lescott a chance, or Matthew Upson. Upson's 30, but has done very well when called upon. With it being a friendly however I think you'll see Lescott play. He should be do well against the pace of Fabiano and kaka. For them, hopefully Ashley Young will also play. He's a pretty exciting player.

I think it'll be a good match even though it's a friendly. It's not the same England side as the last. Interesting statistic - Brasil is one of the only nations in the world with a winning record over the English.

The only call-up I'm "upset" about is Josue. I'd rather have seen another new (Thiago Motta) call-up there or a recall (Fernando) but I at least hope he's on his way out in favor of a more versatile player for the last spot.

It'll be most interesting to see who starts at LB and whether Daniel Alves will be used to fill in any gap if something isn't working against Englad, including the LB position.

For the sake of purely being annoying, Dani Alves would do the trick just by being on the field. But I wouldn't be surprised if Dunga has Maicon on one side and Alves on the other like he tried in one of the last matches.

Fernando of Porto is a like for like replacement for Gilberto Silva in the middle, him and Melo would dominate any midfield.

Whay Julio Baptista (who's not even in Roma starting eleven) is geting call ups??
it's for the form he showed when he was in Sevilla may be 5 years ago???

Rafinha may not get a call up as long as D.alvez and Maicon are on the team!!!
Thiago Silva is playing very well in Milan...oh well But he has to compete with so many other great players...
It's ironic that Julio Baptista who didn't do sh^^t is in the team!!
And LUCAS is once again somehow manage tod find a place in the team!!!May be 'cause the game's against Engalnd!!

Has Dunga ever tried Maxwell ,he had a very good game for Barca last weeek.
Robinho is out injured I believe!!so he may not be available...

I would like to see either D.Alvez or Alex of spartak in the LB position...

Julio Baptista has done plenty for Dunga's team so your argument is pretty useless.

Remember: Form for Brazil > form for your club. Sure, if he's not starting for Roma this may eventually hurt his form for Brazil but he has earned the call-up.

I don't know if Dunga ever called Maxwell up but he was called up back in 2004.

It's suicidal to call up players who are not even able to get to the starting eleven of an average club!!!!!
Julio Baptista has not started any match for Roma this year ..Roma is not doing well either...Roma coach who knows his team may very well know what he's doing...
Beckham is coming to Milan on loan January ,just to get some top class footballing minutes.Otherwise player of his stature will not get a call up for Engalnd..
Is Baptista's case any different? He needs to play ...if the payers are not in form , they will be a burden to the overall team ..That's it.
