Lightbulb Pre/Post Match: Atlanta vs. Syracuse on FSW [R]

Game starts at 8:00 pm Eastern.
The Backs are Red hot and wanting revenge after losing the first game of the year 1-0 in double OT, missing a PK that game and adjusting to Coach Vaudreuil's plan of attack. Now our results speak for themselves as last weekend, we knocked off unbeaten Portland in Atlanta and Rochester at home the next day.

Check it out... the team is for REAL this year!

Wow I am still speechless good thing I am typing!

Dore put Syracuse ahead after half when we didnt clear properly.

Gary Brooks puts an over head kick into the lower right corner to tie it.

93 minute Broder's low cross connects with Mac Cozier....Big Mac makes no mistake and slots it past the keeper... ref blows whistle as they celebrate the goal.....

Thats 5 in a row if your counting....

The A-League is served notice on national TV

It makes me sick when I see good teams like this, in the A-League, playing on that crappy old astroturf. Ridiculous. Soccer needs to be played on real grass only!

I didn't see why Mahrer got the red card, did anyone catch the foul? Atlanta tonight looked great. And I would wonder if they wouldn't have controlled the game even more on grass. Seemed like a lot of their passes were running long on the turf. The rematch between the Back and Impact should be an excellent match.

From what I gathered, he walked back THROUGH the wall on the free kick they had and couldn't help but to backhand someone as he passed... (Not like the ref would be looking or anything as he checked the 10 yards huh)

I can't figure did we lose more players to their field or from their fouls???

I also noticed the lagging passes and I assure you it was much smoother on the surface the soccer gods intended last weekend vs. Portland.

The problem with that park (and other than the surface, it is a pretty good venue) is that Syracuse is the farm team of the Blue Jays. As the Jays play on turf, they want their farm team to get accustomed to the suraface, hence...

Their was that halftime bit about looking for a SSS in Syracuse (SSSS?)
but as with all things stdium related in soccer, I'll start holding my breath.

Dore's goal was amazing. And I think the cameraman had a hard-on for Alex Pineda Chacon. Everytime I looked up during a stoppage, the camera was almost always on APC.

It just made the A-League look completely bush league. That field, the DJ, the MUSIC arrrgghhh. I am a diehard A-League fan but I couldn't sit through that crap.

While I understand their desire to show all the teams at least once I think their should be a set criteria for what teams get the HOME games televised:

1) No old school astroturf (newer generation is fine)

2) No lines of any kind on the field (baseball, american football etc)

3) No godamn jock rock

4) No bellowing announcer

5) At least a guarantee that 3,000 fans or more will show up.

Harsh? Yes it is but I also think it will make the league look better and many fans of the teams that play at inferior venues can actually see their team at an away match.

So by my quick estimation, based on the above 5 criteria the following teams should carry the home games:

Charleston
Va Beach (attendance may be a problem)
Montreal
Rochester (once the new stadium is built)
Milwaukee (if the pitch isn't under water)
Vancouver
Seattle
Portland

Using 3000 fans per game as criteria you can count out Milwaukee or Seattle (averaging 1546 and 2387 respectively). Virginia Beach would be a definite problem. However Puerto Rico does qualify, playing on natural grass and drawing over 3000 per game.
