It's not that simple. At the level of a professional league, it's everything. Almost anything below that, it's fun.

Depends on your definition of winning I suppose. Should the South Korean team be regarded as losers because they only made the world cup semi final?

I'd say anyone who exceeds expectations can consider it a job well done, even if they didn't win the ultimate prize. Portsmouth, for example, were tipped by nearly everyone to be relegated by christmas. Is their, in the end, quite comfortable survival something to be praised, or should they be condemned as rubbish for being so far behind Arsenal in the title race?
