SA seems to be the safer than all the rest. If politcal climate was not an issue or proximity to the Arab world was not an issue I would be down for Egypt. I don't have ill feelings about arabs, its just a crazy part of the globe.

But when in South Africa, be careful of where you stick your John Thomas.

I agree with Cosmojado. It should be South Africa, because security is a paramount concern. And although S.A. has it's own problems -- I think about 1/3 of the population has HIV -- those issues seem less likely to threaten the success of the tournament.

I dont know, the way Beck's is going HIV could create a security problem. That is if he is still playing for England in 2010.

I voted SA as well. I fiqure they have had some good teams in recent WC's, and if we could get WC94 after qualifying only once in 40 years, then Africa should have some meritable arguements. My biggest concern with SA would have to be the HEAT. I wonder what June is like in Hedes?

Thanks--- badgoalie ---

Sepp has REALLY, REALLY put himself in a pickle here. I would say before the latest round of Bush-inspired Iraq (you know, the country that didn't have much to do w/ September 11th, didn't have weapons of mass destruction, and didn't to my knowledge ever treat our citizens the way we treated theirs) that Morocco would be a lock, with its close proximity to Europe (flying to SA from Amsterdam is a hike!), relatively orderly internal political system, etc. Now I would guess even a stable kingdom in Morocco is still too risky for a major incident.

With the latest round of bs, I think you are right--it will have to go to SA merely because there is nowhere else it can go. Egypt for obvious reasons is an incredibly huge no-no, and unruly, ultra-hi crime, inconvenient, AIDS-ridden SA appears to be Sepp's only way out. Besides, if SA can't get it done, they can always move it to the USA on a very short notice--on second thought, maybe not.

[Badgoalie--why do you think SA would be so hot in the middle of winter ]

I don't think the heat's going to be a problem for South Africa if it's held during June and July. However, what about the rain? Rain may be a problem in certain cities if it's held during those months. Take a look at these:

Even if rain was a problem, they might change postpone the matchdays to suit the teams.

South Africa has some political and social problems that need to get solved, or at least more attention, and a World Cup will help that.

South Africa handled the Rugby World Cup really well, I'm sure they'll manage the same with the footie one, even though it's bigger.

LOL.

It has to be South Africa. Although I personally would rather it be in Morocco. This has the potential to be an utter disaster - I guess the only saving grace will be that the US is going to win it.
