According to some Spanish newspapers, Michael Bradley after the game waited for the referee in the tunnel and verbally attacked him with insults. The newspaper (http://www.as.com/futbol/articulo/bradley-intenta-agredir-arbitro/dasftbccf/20090624dasdasftb_60/Tes) said FIFA no doubt would look into this incident.
Re: Bradley May Be Punished If true, so much for the slim chance of getting that red overturned. He needs to realize we won and leave it at that. Take everything he's learned from here and bring it to the wc next year.
Re: Bradley May Be Punished It was a horrible decision, but you can't do that (if true). Even if true, it doesn't make me dislike Bradley at all. He's proven his doubters wrong this tournament. He's only going to improve from here.....
Re: Bradley May Be Punished If he gets an extra game for this, we won't have a hardassed physical DM for the Mexico match ... oh wait, we WILL!!! FIFA giveth and FIFA taketh away.
Re: Bradley May Be Punished It was a bullshit red card, from what I could see. Hell, I don't even think it was a foul. But he simply cannot go after the ref post-game. That's ridiculous.
Re: Bradley May Be Punished If this is true, it is just another case of Bradley's admirable passion crossing the line into petulance.
Re: Bradley May Be Punished Call him in for Gold Cup, don't play him, eligible for Mexico, problem solved
Re: Bradley May Be Punished I'm glad he did it. He was already suspended and it was a bullshit decision to send him off. If you make a bullshit call that causes a starter to miss a final of a FIFA event, you should expect to get a bucketload of shit for your call. I'm glad Bradley stood up for himself, and US players, and I hope it brings attention to the fact that we ROUTINELY get hosed on calls that aren't clear reds. I'm not saying none of them deserve to be reds, just saying it's almost a statistical impossibility for the US to have players tossed so often in FIFA matches. I mean, in the last six FIFA matches the US has played, we've had FIVE players ejected. That's just a startling rate.
Re: Bradley May Be Punished man i hope that is not true. when players go after officials, it sometimes is not just a one game suspension...plus they could assess the penalty in the WC couldn't they? of could it be served in the gold cup/qualifiers?
Re: Bradley May Be Punished nobody else liked this post? i liked it. that should be all that matters nermalthecat. i think no one else got it.
Re: Bradley May Be Punished no other team has gotten a red card in the tournament, no one has even got a double yellow.
Re: Bradley May Be Punished reminds me of what Il Bruce and Reyna pulled after the Costa Rica/Berrhalter-handball-out-of-his-forehead incident in 2000
Re: Bradley May Be Punished I hope he pulled a Blanco and gave the referee a jersey for a red card...
Re: Bradley May Be Punished If true, it is rank stupidity. Fortunately, the next competition for the US is the Gold Cup, and its unlikely any additional suspension would last beyond that, but that behavior is totally irresponsible and completely unnescessary. Doing something stupid in the heat of the moment is one thing, but to do something so stupid when youve had a few minutes to consider it is completely unacceptable. Im really hoping its not true.
Re: Bradley May Be Punished Tried to rep it but couldn't. If the red was THAT bullshit, we might have had a chance to get it overturned.
Re: Bradley May Be Punished FIFA doesn't overturn reds. The EPL will do this sort of thing periodically, but FIFA never rescinds a red. One the ref shows it, unless he accidentally booked the wrong player, that's it. I hope Bradley didn't do this, but it wouldn't really surprise me from a 21 year old kid who has been playing a very good tournament and will now miss the final due to a bullshit decision.
Re: Bradley May Be Punished Didn't Reyna do something similar to Markus Merk in the Ghana match in 2006?
