Eidur at £ 7 million would be a steal for United. I know Fergie say no more big purchases but frankly, after pretty much being guaranteed £ 40 million by qualifying for the CL, it's not that much $$.
He's a quality player that I've always thought highly of even though he plays for Chelsea. I'd see his career at Old Trafford running along the same lines at Ole's.

So great, we sign a new keeper, and now Barthez is fit, so it's a bit of a non-event. With the transfer window closing tonight, I guess we are phooked. We still needed another defender damnit!

Barthez may be fit for now (although I have to admit I didn't read that - do you have a link?), but how long that will last is uncertain. He's been injured often, and as of yesterday, was still not allowed to dive in practice for fear of reinjuring his hip. I think United was smart to sign a good, experienced keeper, since it's probably only a matter of time before Barthez is unavailable again.

www.rednews.co.uk said that both Barthez and Gary Neville played in a closed door match with Bolton last night. Barthez had a blinder which was great news - he was even rumored to make the trip to Sunderland - and Gary Nev, although he didn't last the whole 90, came out from the match uninjured also. I also saw it on various other sport tickers and wires so I would consider this confirmed.

We need him. Barthez will be out again. I'll be shocked if he makes it through the season without missing any more games.
