MLS eliminates Over-time. Is this good for the league?
I just think that MLS made a mistake. Personally, i used to enjoy watching the overtime. I think it kept people on their seats and excited.

I think we're all entitled to our opinions. Heaven knows there are at least two schools of thought on various issues with MLS.
Yes, I am a "eurosnob", so you can guess I am glad that overtime was killed in favor of tradition. Tonight's DCU-LAG match showed me that kevorking the OT also actually made the match infinitely more interesting throughout, tradition or no tradition. It was actually quite a bit more entertaining than many UEFA and South American matches I've seen over the years on TV. I am very very eager to see how this season pans out.

For me, I have always loved the shootout. Yes, I know that the world hates it, but I thought it was a great idea. There's obviously some problems with it, but I still like it.

Re: MLS eliminates Over-time. Is this good for the league?
If they MUST institute and overtime, perhaps the NHL's OLD OT program would work. Make it sudden death, and give them 10 mins in stead of 5. The winner gets all the standings points, the loser, nothing, and if no one scores by the end of the OT period, then its a draw.
But I also agree that NOT having any overtime really pushes teams to go for teh victory, espeically later in the second half.
