Official Cricket Basher's Thread
Just like they have the "Official Soccer Basher's Thread" on the "Business and Media" forum, I decided to create a thread for cricket on this forum. It's basically when someone pokes fun at the sport for no rational reason in the media, you poke fun back at them in this thread. I didn't want to put it in the Business/Media forum, because apparently many people there don't know much about cricket. This seems like the perfect place.
So, here is the first entry:

Grant is a mellow dude, well spoken, matter-of-fact, with a good sense of humor that he’s not afraid to show to the public. He told me he couldn’t tell me where he got the Cosmos jersey or else everyone else will have them and then he’d have to start wearing cricket shirts.

Pretty insightful article about MLS, too.
Wonder if there are any cricket fans who think that the sport will be legitimized here in the US if County cricket shirts become NBA-chic. Personally, I long for the day when someone can be seen on American TV wearing a soccer shirt and nothing appears on bigsoccer announcing that fact.

Re: Official Cricket Basher's Thread
Watching the show "Made in America" on FoxSportsWorld yesterday, which chronicled the development of Americans playing in the English premiership:
Everyone was asked about their impressions on the cultue in England, and cricket was one of them.
Kasey Keller, the USA international and Tottenham (his future there is in doubt based on the latest news, though) goalkeeper's response?
Bastard stepchild of baseball!!!
Come on Kasey, get your facts straight. Which one came first, cricket or baseball? It's supposed to be the other way round. Kasey is a very funny guy, though.

Re: Official Cricket Basher's Thread
I'm confused as to how anybody could have a "bastard stepchild" anyway .

Cricket
As English as off-white (read: black) teeth and brown sauce, baseball's boring Anglo offshoot involves bowlers flinging balls in an attempt to knock over wickets positioned behind a batter. Still with us? Oh, and a match can last from six hours to five days. Still with us now?

Yeah, like your observation was what was required for validation.

It took me 2 plus years to find another stupid cricket-bashing reference in the media, and in the process get over the inertia of responding to your post.
