Default Oh dear God do I hope we get in France's group.

They are playing like shit, and after the crap that went down against the Irish, I would love to blast those frogs 17-0.

Eh, I'm not so sure about that.
Yeah that was messed up what happened to the Irish but France is still a team that can dominate when they decide to turn it on, similiar to Italy.
I just want a decent draw, no groups of death.
That sh!t draw that we got for the 2006 WC pretty much ended any chances that we might have had before the matches even started.

They are officially the second weakest team in the "seeded" pot. The US would be lucky to get South Africa or France in their group.

After that, we can hope for Argentina, because the top 5 are legit.

When Ribery comes back, France will be a tougher opponent. OTOH, they are probably wishing for us.

Just yesterday I was thinking this would be a sweet group:

France
Slovenia
USA
North Korea

or

Argentina
Slovakia (yes, I saw the friendly and it only convinced me that neither team played with heart--I think we could totally take them at full strength)
USA
New Zealand

OTOH, France was supposed to be a cream puff of a seed in 2006 and we all remember what happened there. Teams with enough talent to earn a WC seed seem to have uncanny abilities to turn on the afterburners and perform at another level (consider also Italy in 1982--terrible in group stage, then WC champs). Plus, with seven months before the event anything can happen and/or change.

Still, we've had pretty tough draws for the past few WCs and it would be nice to get an easier one for a damn change.

Henry can play both kinds of football, as he can catch pretty well, so I would be worried if we end up in France's group.

Ya we probably will want to face either France or South Africa as the seeded team. I'm kinda unsure if we would do better against France or South Africa. I think we would have a better chance against France just because of the neutral ground. South Africa is one of the weakest teams in the tournament but you can't underestimate home field advantage.

I hope for: France, Slovakia, Algeria, USA

The second-best team in that group was Ghana. It's quite likely that for 2010 USA's group will actually be tougher than in 2006 because there is a better than 50% chance they'll draw another CAF team.... but this time the CAF team will have home continent advantage. And of course there's also a risk that they'll get a better unseeded UEFA team than Czech Republc (like Holland or Portugal).

I personally don't wan to be in France's group because the same thing that happend to Portugal can happen to France. Portugal during the majority of their qualification pretty much was garbage. But near the end they turned it up...and without the help of Ronaldo.
