Re: MLS commissioner Don Garber advocates instant-replay technology in soccer...
please, if technology can make sure calls are correct than i say do it. all this "bad calls are part of the game" crap is stupid. Why not make it NOT part of the game.

Good for him, now do something productive and raise the salary cap as well as loosening some rules on academy players and talent acquisition so that those teams with the means can push this league forward. k thx bye

Like he said more pressing issues are at hand to worry about instead IRT..
I don't mind DG for a long time to come.
That doesn't sound right, does it?...
I don't mind DG to be MLS's Commish for a long time.

The first half-hour of [the L.A.-Houston game] finished with a 1.4 rating, which is four times our weekly rating. The stadium lights went out, and obviously it was a West Coast game that finished at 3 in the morning on the East Coast, so we didn't expect to keep a rating at that level.
|
A 1.4 for part of an MLS game? Great news, even though it didn't last...

It does sound like he's getting a little tired on the job, and is already looking ahead to retirement down the line:
Quote:
SI.com: In that case, thanks. Last question: A few days ago, you said you wouldn't be in this position in 10 or 15 years. How much longer do you see yourself in this job?
Garber: I certainly hope I can lead this sport for many more years. But boy, this is a tough job. I believe I have the toughest job in sports, because I've got the same issues every other commissioner has in promoting the sport, growing revenues, dealing with on- and off-the-field issues. But I'm doing it in soccer, which has its own challenges in this country. So it's fair to say I've gotten a little older than my 52 years. And that being said, I hope I can do it for a while longer.
