Thanks for the links rev.
Very interesting. Of course this won't do a thing to deter Rafa haters.

I think that the more open Rafa is to the Press in England they will like him more and thus treat him more fairly.
The Press want something to write and so if they have access, interviews etc they are happy.
If Rafa gave more in-depth one on one interviews with certain journalists at certain newspapers then these papers would quit their bashing.
He could arrange an exclusive hour long interview with each of the chief football writers at some national papers. He could schedule them months in advance and space them out over the season. He could include the journo being embedded with the squad at training or in the dressing room before or after a big match. If he offered them that type of scoop then the papers would quickly switch their hate into more balanced reporting.
Rafa does not trust a lot of English journalists though.
It will be interesting to see how the Times' other writers treat Rafa over the next fortnight or so.

Re: Rafa's interview with the Times
That's great. We ********ing missed out on Aaron Ramsey! Great job board. Great job.
That makes me mad.
It also makes me mad that Rafa seemed to have a plan that involved both Keane and Barry, but because our board was stubborn we ended up with just Keane trying to fit square pegs in round holes.
Keane - Torres
Gerrard
Barry - Mascherano - Alonso - Johnson
Agger - Skrtel - Carragher
Reina
I know that works on paper, but seriously. This something that we could have worked. Dang.
And we missed out on Aaron ********ING RAMSEY!!!!

Re: Rafa's interview with the Times
Roughly a millon times i suggested that Barry was likely going to play on the left rather than displace anybody and nobody was buying it whatsoever.
I really wish we had signed him up. Oh well.

Re: Rafa's interview with the Times
Okay, let's look at it more realistically. If we sign Barry, this could be a possible lineup. Alonso would have stayed happier, and we still would have signed Glen Johnson. We probably wouldn't have signed Aquilani. Even if we did, you can swap him for Alonso.
Reina
Johnson - Agger - Skrtel - Insua
Alonso - Mascherano
Kuyt - Gerrard - Barry
Torres
Yeah...that's a damn fine team. Oh wait, we could also have Cavalieri, Carragher, Kyrgiakos, Aurelio, Lucas, Benayoun, Ramsey, Babel, Riera, and/or Ngog coming off the bench.
God we would suck. This is so stupid. I hate Parry and I hate our owners.

Re: Rafa's interview with the Times
Add Pato to that list too. Benitez was supposed to get him before it got stalled and Milan got him instead.

The lost goes on and on. But, apparently, we buy anyone we want whenever we want.

Yeah...sigh
Notice all of those players ended up going onto other "Top 4" clubs and performing good to great.
