Transfer Rumors: Holden as potential YA?
Thought I'd kick off a Holden thread.
Some background info here -- originally posted in the MLS:Houston forum:
http://sport.scotsman.com/sport/Stua...Cup.5825510.jp
Has anyone heard anything about his contract situation? On the EU work rules front, does he have any advantages having been born in Scotland, or does his switch to US citizenship negate that?
Appreciate any news or info.

Re: Holden as potential YA?
I have a couple post on this page of the Winter Transfer thread that have links to Holden moving abroad stories.
Basically his contract is up and he is gone. It is just a matter of to where. A work permit is not a problem for Holden as he has a passport - Scottish (thus British), I think.

Re: Holden as potential YA?
Being born in Scotland he would have no limitations in terms of EU restrictions. He can play anywhere. He did sign for Sunderland before MLS. They couldn't have signed him if he didn't have that passport.

Re: Holden as potential YA?
Holden does say this though
http://www.ussoccer.com/Social/MNT-B...entId=blogDest
"I'm honored to be recognized along with a such a great group of players. It's been a year of ups and downs for me, so I am grateful for all the support I have received from teammates, family and friends." said Holden. "Obviously it's disappointing that we didn't make the MLS Cup, because we felt we had a team capable of winning the championship. That feeling of disappointment will only make us more hungry to get back there next year."

Re: Holden as potential YA?
Personally, I believe he's played his last game for the dynamo. With Clark gone, the Dynamo may be more willing to pay him, but probably not enough. All indications are pointing to the UK.

I know this is the Holden thread, but I wanted to draw attention to the part of the article that said Clark is headed to a French team. Who could that be?

Re: Holden as potential YA?
Holden speaks fluent French so i'd prefer he go to France as well, I feel like He wouldn't get much PT at a Premier league club and if im correct in that I'd rather him play in Ligue 1 than the SPL or Coca cola championship

Re: Holden as potential YA?
Posted this in the winter transfer thread before I saw this one.

Looks like his got the right idea about a transfer 6 months before WC.

I'm available on a free and I've already got a few options in Scotland and England. Moving back to the UK appeals but I have to make sure wherever I end up I'm playing every week.

Re: Holden as potential YA?
I don't doubt for a second that Holden will be in Europe next season.
But like jdiris says........he'll be exploring the playing time possibilities at his potential clubs. If he feels like he's not going to get PT, then perhaps he should sign a 1-year deal with the Dynamo.......and go to Europe after the cup.
