MLS announces 2009 Best XI
My first impression of the picture below: who is the Seattle guy on the left?
MLS announces 2009 Best XI :
Quote:
2009 MLS Best XI
GOALKEEPER (1): Zach Thornton (Chivas USA)
DEFENDERS (3): Geoff Cameron (Houston Dynamo), Wilman Conde (Chicago Fire), Chad Marshall (Columbus Crew)
MIDFIELDERS (5): Dwayne De Rosario (Toronto FC), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy), Stuart Holden (Houston Dynamo), Shalrie Joseph (New England Revolution), Freddie Ljungberg (Seattle Sounders FC)
FORWARDS (2): Conor Casey (Colorado Rapids), Jeff Cunningham (FC Dallas)

Kudos to their graphics department for that simple but well executed montage.
I'm still pickin Ricketts, but Zach was quality all year.

No Beckham
Personally I'd have put Blanco in there instead of Holden, but I don't feel too strongly about it. Holden had a good year.

Re: MLS announces 2009 Best XI
Thought they'd take Hurtado over Conde, and Id've picked Ricketts over Thornton, and probably Blanco over Holden too (though I don't feel as strongly about the Blanco choice).

Re: MLS announces 2009 Best XI
This list of XI seems pretty fair to me. Stuart Holden is definitely on the rise!

Re: MLS announces 2009 Best XI
Yes, nice montage.
Someone over at Glidden is doing back flips.
Considering Holden's play all season with club and country and the death of his daddy to begin the year, he didn't let that trainwreck his game, took what he learned from De Ro and lead by example.

Standard MLS policy. They list all their All-Stars/Best XI in a 3-5-2.
Best way to get those name midfielders in there
