Turnovers: Balls lost on dribble and pass; tackles won
I've just started glancing through this forum. Has anyone done a rigorous analysis of individual and collective turnover statistics and their correlation to success in a league table? Turnovers seem to be very important in the game: when on offense - balls lost on dribbles and poor traps, balls lost on incomplete passes; when on defense - tackles won, passes intercepted, both of which lead to completed passes to a teammate. Seems like area of turnover (e.g. thirds of field) are probably relevant, too (e.g. turnovers lost/created in your defensive third, in the middle third of the field, or offensive third).
