Seattle space needle painting
Despite the current ticket controversy, Seattle is doing an amazing job for this final. They're even painting the top of the space needle!

I don't know if they've done anything like this before, so I don't know how big of a deal it actually is, but I think it's amazing. That city/team has really done a lot to strengthen the MLS in just one year. I'm excited to see what happens in the future.
If you look at the second to last slide you'll see the plan for the whole top. It looks like they had the Columbus Crew and Sounders crests planned. Maybe now that they actually know the teams playing it'll be our shield up there.

That's pretty sweet. I'll make sure to swing by there while I'm up for the game. Will that only be viewable from the air, or is there a viewing deck just above that?

Re: Seattle space needle painting
first, if memory serves me correctly ( its been a few years since i've been up there), that's on the top of the needle. you'll be just below it, for those of you journeying up here. need a plane to see it. should look good on tv on sunday though!
second, i don't know if this is the right place to put this or not, but i have a question for you all. us sounder supporters have been going back and forth as to weather or not we should sing any sounder chants during the match. what do you think? those against it say that it would be offensive to the teams on the pitch since the sounders fc squad ain't there. those for it say it don't matter, they just want to create a lively atmosphere for the game. what should we do, since it is your team afterall. we obviously don't know any rsl or la chants, but would sounder specific chants take away from your experience of being in the finals??

You could do your "Seattle...Sounders" chant, but change the words to "Real....Salt Lake".
A common chant at RSL games is "Ole, ole, ole, ole, Real, Salt Lake." Like what is chanted in this video:

Re: Seattle space needle painting
While I think doing some generic soccer chants might be better, I don't think doing Sounders Chants would be bad at all. It'll keep it fun I think.

I think you chant away whatever you want. It's a soccer game, enjoy it at whatever level you want to enjoy it. I know that I will enjoy hearing a loud and lively crowd. Most people on TV can't understand the words of chants anyway. It will be good for a national audience to see, feel, and hear your enthusiasm for the sport.
So chant, sing, scream, cry, do whatever floats your boat... just don't sit on your hands and be quiet.

I went down to Annapolis when BYU played Navy. After the Midshipmen marched onto the field (that was cool) they did the "Give me a B!" thing and after "What's that spell? Brigham Young," they all tipped their hats and said "Hi!"
Then they did the same thing for Navy. After "What's that spell? Navy," they cheered wildly then broke out into "Gooooooooooo Navy! Beeeeeeeeeeeat Army!"
It was great.
If you do Seattle cheers the internet will be full of "Don't they know who's playing?" To avoid having people question your intelligence, I recommend substituting "RSL" for "Seattle" and "Real" for "Sounders."
It's the thinking person's solution
