Default Irony for the Chicago Fire

Last year they are defeated in the Eastern Conference Final by a plucky and determined Columbus Crew Side(Oh the memories...tear).

This year they are knocked out of the playoffs by a plucky and determined RSL team. The winning goal...kicked by a former Crew player Ned Grabavoy.

It's the Brian McBride curse!
I hate Blanco but when the Crew dropped out I turned to rooting for Brian and Jon.
Hated to see it.
I swear Brian is cursed.
Has he ever won a championship game - high school, college, anything.

Go Go Grabavoy

^To the above poster: Why in the hell would you root for the F!re after Crew were knocked out? That is ********* ludicrous. Your Busch/McBride crushfest needs to end.

To whoever sold their soul so that RSL would beat Sh!tcago in PKs: thank you.

I too found myself rooting for Chicago for a couple reasons. First, I can't stand RSL - they beat us, stupid-ass name & Kyle Beckerman among others. And second, I'd rather have a team from the east win, not to mention I thought the Cup would be a better game with RSL not in it.

Also, if you watched the game, you could not help but begin to root for Buschie again after the absolutely amazing saves he made in the first half. Plus, the McBride glancing header off the crossbar in the first half pretty much summed up the night for his side. Btw, Grabavoy looked scared sh!tless before taking the winning pk.

I'd shoot myself in the head before I'd root for Chicago.

I was pulling for Salt Lake to win it after we got knocked out.

Garber will be pissed if the two smallest markets in MLS win consecutive cups by beating the two largest markets in MLS. I for one look forward to watching his head explode.

When started watching the match I was totally ambivalent, then after Blanco's stunt where he smacked the hand of the defender lightly touching him... my resentment for all thing Fire returned.

NOT a fan of RSL; but it's good to see Wingnut & Grabs advance to the finals.

I could tolerate Chicago until Blanco started playing for them. Then it became
impossible.
