Default pia's callups for december camp

This isn't exactly an upcoming game, but I just saw that WPS posted the roster for the December training camp.

Its good to see the young kids getting a call up. I also like that Nairn is still in the mix.

no Whitney and no Ashlyn either! Meh.

(sorry, i'm being biased here, but i think Whit Engen deserves at least a look! She's fast, she's fit, she's tough, and can play anywhere-- mid in HS, forward, now center back. C'mon, Pia!!!)

Another chance for Masar after being a late call-up for Germany...maybe the opposite for Cox (not called up)?

I realize our defense is not the weakest link but common no Dowling! Unless she is nursing an injury I am missing something here. Keeley is as good as anyone named and better than 95% of those named IMHO.

I think you mean White as she was the other replacement for Germany. But yes, I noticed that Masar got another call while she didn't. I didn't think either had a great game but it is pretty clear that Pia sees White as an outside mid, not a forward. There isn't much room in that position for White w/ other players being healthy.

I, too, am disappointed Dowling isn't there. Isn't there some poster here that supposedly has inside info on SkyBlue players? Maybe they can tell the rest of us if Dowling has an injury.

Very interesting to see both Nogueira and O'Hara on the list.

Someone (apologies that I've forgotten who) posted in one of the college threads that the College Cup final overlaps w/ the first day of camp. If any of the college players make it that far, I assume they'll be allowed to come to camp late.

Yes maybe Soccerreigns can supply some info on Dowling. I hope Osborne is 100% because we can sure use her.

Actually I wasn't thinking about White at all. I was interested that Masar hadn't even initially gotten a call to the camp in September but did enough against Germany to get called back to the December camp.

I mentioned Cox because I get the impression that she's been living on the edge with the WNT and there are other young-gun Ds who have been called up to this camp.

My bad, sorry. I thought you might have mentioned Masar as a comparison to the other player brought in as a replacement for the Germany trip.

As for Cox, you're right -- it does seem she's on the WNT bubble but outside looking in. Same with Dalmy, I think. I think both are strong players and if one or the other could really step it up, I'd love to see Chalu move back to midfield. But it does seem as thought Pia has pretty much set Chalu as a defender and isn't looking for ways to get her closer to goal (sigh).
