I forgot how low the per diem is that the players get for food when on the Road. I don't see how you could eat on that, 50 bucks a day when you are on the road stuck at a Hotel MLS has mandated you to stay at. If these are the issues that the players are fighting over, for once I am with the Union.
I do agree with the MLS that if you are cut they retain your rights or the team does, you can always go to a different League. Their is always USL (maybe) or whatever new league comes along.

How can you agree with that?
You've been cut from a team, another team at the same level wants to bring you in, but the team that cut you still owns your rights and they won't let go until they get something for absolutly nothing. Oh, and if you don't like that, well then you can go play at a lower level for 2 years or you and your family can all move to a foreign country.
What part of that is agreeable to you?

I know there's a lot of people who like Mitchell, and he does an admirable job, but there's such an obvious antipathy for the Crew at that paper. I suppose it would be different if the Wolfe family owned a share of the team, like they do the BJs. Then they could devote whole sections of the paper, two or three times a year, to lobbying for public assistance in paying the rent at Crew Stadium like they do now for the BJs.

Re: Columbus Dispatch front page: Labor trouble could threaten MLS next season
I fail to see how this article and its placement on the front page shows any antipathy to the Crew and MLS. It's not like they didn't just have a front page story on the BJ's finanical problems. It actually shows that the Dispatch considers MLS and the Crew to be important. It's an important story and the Dispatch is covering it. I'll bet folks would be just as p*ssed if the Dispatch failed to cover it or put a small blurb on the back page of the sports section ("Look, the Dispatch doesn't care about the Crew--this should be front page news!").
