Default western conference final tv problem

the match is scheduled for 11 p.m on friday night on espn2. However there is a college football game between undefeated number 5 cincinnati and number 25 west virginia scheduled for 8 p.m on espn2 as well. There is a very good chance that this game will run over three hours as most college football games do so we could be looking at a situation where we may miss tv coverage of a portion of the match,

that would suck. do you know if for the soccer match they've taken out a 2 1/2 hour window for the game? that would mean the game isn't starting exactly at 8:05 pdt but more like 8:20ish which would give more time for the college football game to finish.

it's already too bad that such a big game with such big names (Becks, Donovan, etc.) is starting at 11pm (or so) on the East Coast.

ESPN hates soccer.

I heard it's a 11:25 pm kickoff for the WCF game so hopefully there won't be any OT for the college game.

yea ESPN definitely has no love for the beautiful game, this actually happened in the regular season between seattle and dc where some little league baseball game ran long and through the tv coverage of the mls game.

what espn did was make the seattle dc game available on espn360, until the baseball game was over. then they showed a delayed broadcast of the full game later that night.

it is possible that we will be looking at that of a similar situation and solution

If for some reason the college game goes longer than 3:20, I'm sure they would do something like put the WCF on ESPN Classic until its done.

Ugh! I would not at all be surprised if ESPN ran over the WCF. Time to fire up ESPN360.com if you got it guys!

i remember that sea-dc game. they didn't even put it on espn classic. so i doubt they'll do anything like that this time. we're just gonna miss the beginining of the match. that's all there is to it, because college football is way longer than 3 hrs and espn has more love for squirrel waterskiing than soccer. let's just hope there isn't a ton of postgame interviews in that college football match that makes us miss more of the wcf.

ESPN hates soccer SO MUCH. I mean, what have they done for us lately? I mean, besides picking up an EPL game per week, plus several Spanish league games. Plus airing the U-17 World Cup on their networks, and all of the Confederations cup. And sticking with MLS even though MLS TV ratings consistently suck. And airing the Euro 2008 tournament and the 2010 WC and the 2012 Euros. And cutting into their regular programming with highlights of the USMNT v Honduras as they happened.

But apart from all of that, what have they done for soccer lately?

( "What have the Romans done for us?...")

Get over it, guys. ESPN's policy is that they ALWAYS let the first sporting event finish before going on to the next one. This would be true if it were the soccer game first THEN the college football game.

Probably a combination of both. ESPN probably gives the available time slots and MLS picks one, I woudl assume.
