16 year old US youth star Luis Gil may turn down Arsenal and Spain for MLS Generation Adidas
According to Yanks Abroad, Luis Gil might sign an MLS Generation Adidas contract instead of heading off to Europe. He turns 16 years old at the end of the U-17 World Cup. He's been very impressive so far in the U-17 World Cup so he may get some more offers from Europe.

As far as I can tell he hasn't gotten offers from anywhere. This seems like a non-story other than I suppose its the first time I've heard him say that he'd consider MLS. But with no offers so far, its hard to see much news here. I agree, as far as dynamic players for the US in the U-17 tourney, he's pretty much it.

Gil would benefit from Europe more than MLS. MLS should be attracting the talent that can handle the physicallity of the League. Such as Watts,Zaveleta,Herold,Chavez and Sarle.
With Agudelo,Arjona, and Phillips coming through on Academy signings.
The smaller more creative players like Gil should not...and head abroad.

I wonder if this is due to the restrictions on transfers for kids under 18. If he signed with a foreign team, would he have to be unpaid until he turns 18?

When your on the U 17 national team that is pretty much your club team. They are in a residence program in FL. His previous youth club team is listed as; Pateadores (in CA).
Here is a link to his US Soccer profile.
