Re: Jorge Campos Up For Technical Director Position
Talk about trying to restore the Hispanic fan base, don't think you could do much better than that.
The TD needs to have an already established, working knowledge of the bar napkin that is the MLS personnel rule book though.

Re: Jorge Campos Up For Technical Director Position
It would be a boon for the Mex. afficionado. Does he have any skins on the wall? I mean DT wise... I remember seeing him walking the sidelines for the Mexnats, but that's about it.

If properly implemented, sure, but why should we expect that to matter in the case of FCD? So long as the bus driver is in charge, why would we believe that the TD will be anything more than a figurehead, anyway? Wasn't Ellinger the guy he brought in to help him manage that pesky "no experience with MLS personnel & rules" thing?
Hyndman is in charge there, period. Will be for a while. Given that, you're not likely to get someone with the requisite experience to be a proper TD, anyway, as it would probably be made pretty obvious how much power they would actually have in Dallas. You really think that if the bus driver wants a particular player brought in/shipped out, that a TD will be able to do anything other than nod his head? So, whether it's Campos or anybody else, if they can bring something else to the table - e.g. potentially reconnecting with the Hispanic fan base - what have you really got to lose?

Re: Jorge Campos Up For Technical Director Position
Campos has charisma and charm. Campos influence signing some big name players.
Not Bofo .....he's fat....someone with Jaguares told him to lose weight...Bofo got upset and Bofo is leaving because he's a lazy fatso.

I like Bofo (I want a big name striker), but fair enough. Who's your guy? You seem to know more about the Mex guys.

Re: Jorge Campos Up For Technical Director Position
Mexican players are too expensive. They come from a league where inflated foreign salaries boost the price of your average Mexican player to artifically high levels on the global market.
For the money Houston is paying Landin, they could've gotten a much better player from Colombia or Brazil or Argentina.
If Campos is supposed to be a conduit for Mexican players to join MLS, then it's a huge mistake. The ones we can afford, we don't want, the ones we want, we can't afford.

I'd been checking... I'm hearing there isn't anything to this.
