What non american player would benefit our team the most?
This doesn't really mean the best player in the world but its based on the needs of our team. Any ideas?

Re: What non american player would benefit our team the most?
Seems like fun, I'll play.
Just saying C. Ronaldo would be boring. He could roam all over the field but he can't carry the team on his own. Although he is probably the best choice.
I think a player like Messi or Ribery would be more lost and under-utilized for us as they are with their own national teams. I think taking any true target forward, Ibrahimovic or Drogba, would be a waste because their service would always fall short. We would be better with someone like Tevez or Rooney who can go get the ball themselves.
But really I think our best use of a free dream player would be to shore up the D and continue to employ the counter-attack. C. Ronaldo would help us dominiate CONCACAF but I don't think we'd get past Brazil or Germany with just him (htough we did come so close to both without him). And I worry especially if his presence would change too dramatically the attitude of our team. If we become a predictable "get the ball to CR9 and just stand back to watch what happens" we'll be worse than we are now, not improved. It's like any team who gets Peter Crouch and the inevitable de-evolution of their offensive strategy to the "try and score a goal off Crouch's face" that is killing Tottenham now as it killed England and Portsmouth.
Even though LB is our problem position, is there really a game changer out there at LB? The best at the position: Cole, Clichy, Evra, all fall short compared to the benefits of an upgrade at other positions. Although Philip Lahm would be interesting. With Gooch's injury we are suddenly thin at CB and while I think Vidic is the best in the business, maybe Carlos Puyol would be a better option because he can organize the defense, play in the middle if DeMerit is out as well, slide out wide to LB or RB like he did with Barca last season and still look better than 95% of the wide backs in the world.
So I'll go with Puyol and this would be the lineup (4-4-1-1):
Howard
Spector, DeMerit, Puyol, Bocanegra
Rogers, Jones, Bradley, Donovan
Dempsey
Altidore

Re: What non american player would benefit our team the most?
My first thought is a scorer that can create goals out of nothing. Someone like Torres or Drogba would fit in well.

Re: What non american player would benefit our team the most?
i though u were gone talk about mls non american players.
my first pick was def montero, at least for the ones that have not play in their national team, i dont think montero has played for colombia does he?
as far as a real deal player.
def ronaldo, got to give it up for the pretty boy, i though kaka was going to be the leader of madrid but ronaldo is just living the dream, hoping he doesnt have a problem with an english "nurse" or let his little brother to mess up his lambo
