Is there any way of predicting what groups will get what slot number? Is there some sort of tradition that is followed? I understand that say the 8 remaining European teams (assuming they get the appropriate number of seeded teams) will all be put into one pod. Is there any way to know if they will be the 2 , 3, or 4 line? I have some tickets and it would be more fun anticipating what teams I might get (assigning some sort of probability or meaning to say slot E2). Sorry if this has been talked about but I couldn't find anything recent.

Nothing has been announced yet and probably won't until after the playoffs are completed and we have the final field. Most probably we will have a pot with the seeds, a Euro Pot, and two other pots with the remaining teams based on geographic reasons. Last time only Germany (the host), and Brazil (the excuse being they had more fans so needed larger stadiums) where allocated a position. All other teams were drawn a position within the group ie you would be drawn from the pot to be part of a group and then drawn a number to determine your spot in the group. South AFrica has been allocated A1, buts all open after that if they keep the same system.
Good point. Possibly all I've got to go on (apart from Germany) is the distribution of teams in the match schedule - for example every Soccer City match involves a ?1 team.
Do you know that for sure - that was the case in Germany but never before then!
Should be .....They draw the seven seeded teams first, after putting SA as A1
South Africa play the opening match and as the home team so HAVE to be A1.
