Default Somewhere, Zak is Smiling :: HS Soccer '09

The Stallions of DeSales High took Licking Heights apart at the seams 10-0, pushing their record to 13-1-3. All well and good, but LH isn't exactly Dayton Carroll. Or Chagrin or Bay or Revere, either.

Haven't done my High School stuff this season. Had to give something up or else quit my job and I'm not sure how I'd explain that to my wife.

Thought I'd pass along the final state poll though:

1. Cleveland St. Ignatius 16-0-0 80
2. Gahanna Lincoln 14-0-1 71
3. Massillon Jackson 15-1-0 65
4. Olentangy Orange 13-1-1 53
5. Strongsville 12-1-3 48
6. Mason 13-1-2 39
7. Toledo St. Francis DeSales 11-3-1 25
8. Sycamore 13-1-1 20
9. Beavercreek 10-2-4 18
10. Centerville 9-0-6 10

Receiving Votes: Perrysburg, Fairfield

BOYS DII
School Record Points
1. Columbus St. Francis DeSales 12-1-3 100
2. Dayton Carroll 13-1-1 85
3. Chagrin Falls 13-1-1 77
4. Bay Village Bay 12-1-3 67
5. Richfield Revere 11-2-3 54
6. Columbus Bexley 12-2-2 50
7. Hamilton Ross 14-1-1 46
8. Coshocton 13-1-2 25
9. Poland 14-0-2 20
10. Akron Archbishop Hoban 12-1-3 14

Receiving Votes: Batavia, Elida, Bellbrook, Sunbury Big Walnut, Medina Highland, Bellville Clear Fork

BOYS DIII
School Record Points
1. Springfield Catholic Central 15-0-1 84
2. Ottawa Hills 14-1-1 75
3. Worthington Christian 11-1-4 74
4. Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy 9-0-5 67
5. Cincinnati Seven Hills 14-1-1 58
6. Gates Mills Hawken 10-2-4 39
7. Cincinnati Summit Country Day 9-2-3 32
8. Grandview Heights 13-1-0 30
9. Kinsman Badger 12-1-3 11
Dayton Christian 9-3-2 11
10. South Webster 15-1-0 6

With a special mention for UA's girls in Div I and Bexley's undefeated ladies in Div II.

Also worth mentioning is that the Gahanna Lions Boys, stocked with Crew Jrs., are now ranked 12th nationally by NSCAA and 9th by ESPN.

A vital cog of that Gahanna team Will Trapp is now with the US national team and no longer playing for gahanna. It will be interesting to see how the team plays without him. There is still plenty of talent on the team but i don't think they'll go as far as they could have gone.

DeSales recruits. I know they say that about all Catholic Schools, but in the case of DeSales its sadly true.

Sorta what happened a few years back when Olentangy had Horton and Barton, who were taken away right before the start of the season to go down to Bradenton for a year of residency. Unfortuantely for Trapp he's leaving right at the end of the season as the team enters the play-offs - they still have a VERY solid team with or without Trapp.

ive heard rumblings that he may be allowed to play since he went to a national team camp and not a residency like horton did....so they may have him for the whole tournament.

I would love to see a St Ignatius v Gahanna final...both teams are ranked in the top 10 in the nation. Iggy being the #1 team and Gahanna being ranked #9.

I think that Carroll's loss was to DeSales toward the beginning of the season.

I would love to know if the Crew is considering making Trapp their first Academy signing. It would certainly seem like he qualifies for the home grown exception, and it's no secret that the kid's a man among boys out there.

A nice $80k genA deal and tuck him into the roster someplace. SOunds awfully good to me.

How about Olentangy Orange! That school is only a year old. Nice going Pioneers.
