Fox v. Obama/White House
I didn't see this being discussed elsewhere, so Mods..merge etc.. if I missed.
Surprised this is being argued about here...
Back Story LINK
and Here
( I am sure most on here are vaguely familiar with this spat...just found two random links).
So what do you think about this strategy from TWH and the responsed by Fox...
read this interesting take on TPM regarding Fox's admittance that it's opinion shows are not News etc...
Quote:
I think Fox has made a mistake in this tiff with the White House. By conceding that their evening talk lineup is biased, they've made it easier to nail them down on the specifics of their news lineup. For starters, Megyn Kelly is a big part of their daytime "news" lineup, and is perhaps the most biased anchor on the network besides Beck.
More importantly, they've actually entered a debate about what their programming is, perhaps for the first time. Before they just said "fair and balanced" and then chuckled to themselves. But now they are part of an actual debate and thus have to defend their record. For example, would someone ask the Fox news spokesperson why Fox's news anchors continue to refer to suicide bombers by the Bush administration's favored term "homicide bomber?"

I have been on the fence with this whole spat...I watch Fox occasionally just to see if my opinions on them are accurate, and questioned this direct confrontation...but the longer I see this play out, the better I see this being for the independent votes out there...Fox viewers are pretty loyal and opposed to Obama...so just having this debate in the other media outlets serves The White house more than Fox...
Still formulating opinions on this...curious to hear other people's takes

It's just another indicator that Obama and his minions are truly in total synch with the moveon.org types, out of touch and stubbornly going to stay there.
It says this administration will crash and burn faster than Jimmy Carter did, with their eyes wide shut.

Fox is that annoying little brother. The instigate, and when retaliated on are the first ones yelling "he hit me."

Re: Fox v. Obama/White House
Fox news is stupid. Always has been.
But the white house is now on their level.

Re: Fox v. Obama/White House
Fox admitting it is biased is like Vince McMahon admitting pro wrestling is staged.

Re: Fox v. Obama/White House
The White House should revoke their credentials.
Quite simply, Fox News lies. Comments about "death panels," "coverage of illegal immigrants" "government takeover of health insurance" have convinced Fox News viewers, even though none of these items are in any of the bills being considered. Yet something like 79% of Faux news viewers believe this crap.
If you make shit up, you are not a news organization.

This was my original reaction as well...but I am trying to think about this from a longer term end game, as the Obama administration is always playing a long game...I am having a hard time believing that they miscalculated this much on this one...then again the pressure could be getting to them

What else is new? Politicians in power always find a convenient target in the media. It scores them points with their base.

Re: Fox v. Obama/White House
Slate checks in, putting it better than I ever could.
http://www.slate.com/id/2232563/
Fox is to the GOP what ISKRA was to the Bolsheviks. See, I was able to tangentially equate the GOP with the Bolsheviks. Thats a very Foxy move.

Re: Fox v. Obama/White House
As noted in that Slate piece, Fox's "news" programming--not the opinion programming, but the "news" programming--has been caught (on more than one occasion) simply reprinting GOP press releases as independent analysis. On one occasion, FOX's graphics actually replicated a typo in the original GOP press release!
The notion that the White House's comments somehow diminish Obama's standings is absurd.
