Default Eliminatórias 2010: Brasil vs Venezuela, 14 de outubro 2009, em Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul

X

The final match of a long journey. Who would've thought that Dunga would still be the coach, and who would've imagined that we would have defeated Chile, Uruguay, and Argentina on their ground by a combined score of 10-1.

Unless Paraguay wins and we don't, we are all but assured the first place in this World Cup qualifying tournament, as we won the last one.

Kaká and Luís Fabiano will be back.

Time for our players to treat the Mato-Grossenses do Sul with a spectacle of compact, competitive, and victorious showing before our November friendly against England.

Losing to Bolivia away ... OK. But at home against Venezuela even if we don't have anything to play for, I expect nothing but a decent win.

Some people think we'd throw the game to help eliminate Argentina. How mistaken they are.

No kidding, it amazed me to hear that. But at this point it's moot, Venezuela is officially out of anything but the playoff spot (and that would require making up a 15 goal deficit to Uruguay).

Argentina is only interested in 2 games - its own in Uruguay and Ecuador's game.

At this point my biggest hope for this game is significant playing time for Filipe, Lucas and Nilmar. Nilmar of course is practically guaranteed to start and play close to 90 minutes, the other two? I doubt Lucas starts with Gilberto Silva and Felipe Melo and I can only hope Filipe does.

Oh and for Luis Fabiano to get a few goals and be artilheiro of this thing, I should check the stats and see where he stands. EDIT: Fabuloso is currently at the top with 9 goals.

I thought F. Melo was not called b/c of suspension. If he is here or not, then I would like to try Sandro again I was impress by him last time. Naldo over Luisao is another I want. I feel he just way better than him and he would fit Dunga tactics better as he probably the best goal scoring CB in Europe.

Btw, I just found out that Brazil has lost in La Paz in 93 and 2001 and on both occasion have gone on to win the WC the following year.
