Default Serie A: Inter vs Genoa (R)

Hello everyone... thought I'd start a thread for once.

With Milito out, it will either be Super Mario or Suazo starting. I am curious to see who partners Eto'o.

Genoa have been playing some very good football. I really like their summer acquisitions as their two biggest names in Milito and Motta joined us.

We can expect a very hostile atmosphere, and tough quick pace.

I watched Genoa play Valencia away in the Uefa Europa League, and I must say even though they lost 3-2 they played really well. Their midfield in particular was something.

In the summer they acquired:

Marco Amelia, Hernan Crespo, Alberto Zapater, Sergio Floccari, Houssine Kharja, Rodrigo Palacio, Ivan Fatic, Emiliano Morreti, and Nenad Tomovic.

Before you ask yourself can these guys cut it... yea they can.

To give them a little background...

Crespo, well nothing needed there. Good experienced forward.

Zapater is a great Spanish midfielder who likes to get forward and is an U21 international. He has had a great season for Genoa so far, and helped Zaragoza reach promotion. He was one of the few to show a desire to stay after they got relegated to help them back up before he was ousted for the money. Plus his range of passing is good and he can win the ball back. I definitely think he will go to a bigger club in the future, and will earn a place in the Spanish national team.

Floccari.. where do i begin? A good experienced Italian forward who I think has the potential to be a top 10 goalscorer in calcio consistently which he has done in the past for Atalanta. I think he will turn out to be a good signing, and he has the motivation.

Kharja, a Moroccan international. Great season for Siena last year, and I think he has been showing the performances I have come to expect. With Zapater in the middle the duo form a complete physical combination that is hard for other central mids to deal with.

Palacio.. a good forward who came from Boca, who will eventually adapt. I am curious to see how good he can be, because he has been touted as a really 'good' player.

Tomovic, an experienced Serbian U21 international, and vice captain of Red Star Belgrade last season. Had a good U21 euro in what was an otherwise abysmal performance from our Serbian youth... he has been doing really well this season and has been starting at right back for Genoa. He has been good coming forward and created a goal by himself last week against Bologna for Zapater. He will be the future starting right back for Serbia in my eyes, unless someone comes out of nowhere like Ivan Obradovic did at left back.

Morreti, is a good experienced Italian defender with experience for Valencia and Fiorentina. He was the captain against Valencia, and has led the backline this season alongside Criscito, Bocchetti, Tomovic, and Sokratis.

And then you have a bunch of others who I really admire:

Domenico Criscito, U21 international
Salvatore Bocchetti, U21 international
Raffaele Palladino, U21 and full international
Marco Amelia, full international
Bosko Jankovic, full Serbian international (injured until January)
Ivan Juric, full Croatian international

And they also have Bolzoni and Acquafresca out on loan... took some of the best Inter talents for me.

We will see what happens this weekend..

FORZA NERAZURRI!

Great writeup marakana. I'm really scared of this game and I really do feel we might lose a close one. A draw and Im happy

Eto and Milito out for tomorrow clash, Suazo will get his shot paired with Baloteli. While Eto might be ready I hope Mou does not do the same mistake he did with Milito and puts Eto in if hes not ready or we just might lose him for a longer time.

Hope we get out from this with at least a draw. Suazo will get a shot to show his worth, I think this games will determine if Pandev is really needed to come in January transfer window.

Eto definitely out. this are the call ups for Genoa clash.

Goalkeepers: 1 Francesco Toldo, 12 Julio Cesar, 21 Paolo Orlandoni.

Defenders: 2 Ivan Cordoba, 4 Javier Zanetti, 6 Lucio, 13 Maicon, 25 Walter Samuel, 26 Cristian Chivu, 39 Davide Santon.

Midfielders:
5 Dejan Stankovic, 7 Ricardo Quaresma, 10 Wesley Sneijder, 11 Sulley Muntari, 14 Patrick Vieira, 15 Rene Krhin, 19 Esteban Cambiasso, 30 Mancini.

Strikers: 18 David Suazo, 45 Mario Balotelli, 89 Marko Arnautovic.

I hope Zanetti gets switched to LB or gets benched because we will need all the support we can get going forward.

Most probable line up:

------------Cesar------------
Maicon--Lucio--Samuel--Chivu
Zanetti--Cambiasso--Stankovic
-----------Sneijder-----------
-----Suazo-----Balotelli-------

Excited to see Suazo and glad Lucio is also playing, was reading that he was a minor doubt.

No Eto/Milito does scare me, but we can do it.

WE can do it under some circumstances
1. Balo and Suazo play together(mostly balo since he likes to hog the ball sometimes)
2.Someone helps Sneijder in the midfield attack(Stanko or Cambi) so we can create some space
3. Substitution is critical, expect either Arnautovic, Quaresma, Mancinni or Santon to come in and (hopefully) perform

Kinda good news for us... bad news for Genoa.

Kharja, their main central midfielder besides Zapater is out for 6 months. Therefore it will be a little easier than usual for our midfielders to play their game.

I agree with the starting line up posted above.

It is kind of hard to expect Suazo to make an impact immediately because all the pressure will be on him. I just want him to link up play and play as a team.. if we do that we can win, no matter who scores.

The only thing I fear is the jet effect of all our internationals coming back from senior NT duty, namely Cambiasso, Stankovic (partied hard after we qualified hehehe), Cesar, Lucio, etc.
