Hey folks, I'm looking to be in Italy next March/April for about 2 weeks. Lucky for me the Serie A games are on the weekends... thus 2 matches (1 each weekend).
That being said have any of you been to match over there? Did you buy your ticket locally or before hand? From scalpers or ticket shops? Where did you sit? Any problems?
I'm pretty much going to pay whatever the ticket costs (but won't try to break the bank) seeing that I have the opportunity to catch these games in this atmosphere.
Anyways, if you have any info or a story .. let me know!
I lived in Lugano for 4 years and had a Season ticket at the San Siro. It is much easier to get tickets in Italy than in England or Spain right now. Attendance is down for many clubs on the peninsula and prices are reasonable even at big clubs. So usually just showing up at the stadium sufficiently early (maybe an hour or two before kick off) is all it takes to get a decent ticket. Otherwise there are people you can call to arrange to have a ticket before hand. If you are looking to go to a Milan game, there is an office in Switzerland that is dedicate to offering tickets to people coming from other countries. here is the web site: http://www.mpestero.com/
As you can see, some of it is in italian, and some of it is in English. They are legit, I've used them many times to get a season pass or book tickets for friends. The guy that runs the office is Franco, he's a good guy and he speaks English just fine so you can call him if you prefer. They have a booth at the stadium where you can collect your tickets on the game day. If you're not looking to go to a Milan game then I really can't help with getting tickets for other clubs. But it is usually isn't so hard.
Getting tickets before hand would be wise unless told otherwise by fans of Fiorentina and Lazio, respectively. You should ask in those fan's forums for some assistance. I think there is a guy in the San Jose Earthquakes' forum who actually used to work for Fiorentina, but I'm not so sure he'd have the inside scoop any more. Just try to stay safe at the Lazio-Napoli game. Napoli fans can be something else.
