Maybe. It's possible, and (surprise!) it will depend on how well both nations do this year. Hard to say at this point, to be honest. Stuttgart, Hamburg and Berlin were major disappointments.

Spain, Italy, Germany and Austria are the only countries with all teams left in both competitions.

Would more Serie A, La Liga, EPL teams in the Europa League take the competition more seriously if a spot in the Champions League is on the line?......win the Europa League and you have a place in the group stage or at least a qualification spot.

don't think so. the chances of winning it are to low to risk your whole season on it.

the uefa cup isn't there primarily for the richest 4-5 leagues .

it's their to give a chance to clubs from poorer leagues to play a decent number of competitive European games.

Going to be real interesting. I can say this with pretty good confidence: the deciding factor will be the Europa Cup and not Champions League. Germany will need Hamburg, Bremen and/or anyone from the CL who takes 3rd for the parachute into Europa to make a serious run while Italy fails to do so to have a shot at it.

Italy has one team more at Europe, so it will be a tough competition for the German teams to collect more points.

It doesn't matter because you look at the average points per team.

Italy have much better teams in CL, though I think we may edge it out in Europa especially if Hamburg pulls their head out of their ass. So really, we can't know right now until at least after the group stages are over. Until then, we don't even have an idea which team has an advantage or not.
