Default Field Size for U12 Girls - 6v6?

We had our first practice today with an AYSO U-12 girls team. There was a noticeable difference in the quality of play compared to U-10 and the field size we used last year for our scrimmage during practice seemed too small and tight. Is there an ideal size we should use for a 6 a side scrimmage? Thanks.

Default Re: Best size field for 6 a side U12 Girls

I don't think there is one "perfect" size. The less skilled they are the more space you want to allow them. I would guess something around 30x50 yards would be big enough. You want the field wider than the distance that they can accurately pass. Smaller spaces require better passing and decision making. If you are not using full size goals, I suggest using two small goals at each end to keep the danger area approximately the same size as with a large goal.
