Mexico made Saprissa look like a Petting Zoo (Full of US Content)
Seriously, I cannot remember the last time I went to bed so angry after a crucial US Qualifying win. Sure, a win's a win and three points are three points but... Could we have won any more unimpressively than we did against El Salvador?
Now I know the "minnows" are catching up, and yes we had a legitimate goal disallowed.. But how ridiculous was it that we could not effectively hold possession and pressure goal against.. El Salvador at home?
Mexico made the hostile cauldron that was Saprissa look like a petting zoo, and Costa Rica were the doscile goats.. Or Are we the goats? This team under Bob Bradley could never have forged a result like Mexico did on Saturday. When we went 1-0 down, sure our guys responded, but once again Bob Bradley looked like a scared little girl cowering in the corner, unsure of what to do tactically.
I've said it before in this forum, and I'll say it again: I believe the tide in this rivalry and region is shifting. When does our program produce the next De Los Santos or Vela?
At any rate, I could not believe that up by only one goal, we let El Salvador have so much possession late. We should have had the same amount of possession late in this match that Mexico had against us at Azteca, but with this coach and this lineup, apparently that is an impossibility. I'm sorry Feilhaber and Junior, but the middle of the midfield played like the turd brigade in this match.. and no doubt a little something to do with our lack of ability to hold possession and sustain attack has to do with Bradley Sr. loving to employ his central midfielders so withdrawn. It's as if we were.. well.. scared. And it's working, because I am becoming very afraid.
The way things look now, I am worried about the road match at T&T.. VERY worried.

Perhaps. And certainly a comment such as "this could have gone in numerous other threads" itself, and has ad nauseam, gone in other threads.
But what is never addressed by you, or the other partisans of RoboBoberism, is why the elements of our/any team which are clearly shaped by the manager [such as knowing ones' role, cohesion of the starting squad and primary substitutes, the choice of bunkering over attack, the choice Sanchez ball over possession, the atmosphere of panic after the initial plan has a setback, choice of substitutes, evolution of strategy and personnel in accordance with experience--without requiring humiliation to learn those lessons, evaluation of talent..... and much much more] are-- and have been-- in such a mess since WC 2006, why Bradley has failed to show any reasonable arc of improvement in the past two years. But then why waste your time coming to grips objectively with the decay of the USMNT under this man when you have a Party Line to follow, eh?
Let the thread be, and instead justify your stance against the point of the thread. C'mon, tell us just how under Dear Leader all is well, in this best of all possible Yankee soccer worlds.

Well they did go with a diamond shaped midfield this game instead of an empty bucket, so they did do something different tactically. There were also some changes in the starting line up from past games (no Ching). This player pool has a lot of starters who have never even played in a World Cup before. I don't think it is our most talented player pool either, so there isn't much that can be done. El Salvador seems to be giving everyone fits. They did beat Mexico.

That was no diamond midfield, it was listed like that on TV but Bradley and Feilhaber played parallel to each other. Bradley was running around like a chicken with his head cut off so Feilhaber had to sit in deep to try to get some type of possession going and was never really able to get forward. Bradley is capable of so much better than what he showed in this game and when he and Feilhaber are both on their games that should be a very strong pairing. I know Jones is a great player but I'm not sure if he would compliment Bradley very well, I guess we'll find out.

They both played withdrawn, and yet at times El Salvador found themselves with space at the top of their attacking third- ridiculous. It doesn't help that Bradley has not been playing for his club teamof late.. I for one can't wait to see what Edu & Jones have to offer the central midfield. We need competition at those spots.
