Exclamation John Terry: "English Players do not dive. Only Foreigners!"

John Terry:
Quote:
“Diving is something the England lads don’t do and sometimes we’re too honest,” Terry said.

“Even in the Premier League we see the English lads get a bit of contact and try to stay on their feet to score from the chance. The foreign mentality coming in is any little clip and you go tumbling over.

“It’s not all the foreigners, but you know who they are. It’s unfair to single them out, but from our mentality and the way we’ve grown up it’s not something we’ve ever been into."

I guess Terry forgot that England's 3 biggest stars are habitual divers.

Terry's wrong, obviously, but I wouldn't describe Lampard as a 'habitual diver'.

Another victim of English TV propaganda.

It is a shame no in the media has the balls to challenge these deluded xenophobic opinions like these, so the players can carry on living in their macho-England, poofy-foreigner fantasy land.

I have more respect for some like Drogba, coming out and admitting to diving rather then someone like Gerrard, who himself is a notorious diver but acts as the games anti-diving "spokesperson".

I wouldn't call Lampard or Rooney "habitual divers", there are plenty worse in the game. Gerrard on the other hand has to be one most notorious, if it wasn't for him then Terry's comments wouldn't sound quite so ridiculous.

He's quite clearly wrong, but you do tend to see less histrionics from English players. Although it still happens, you don't get anywhere near the number of excessive rolling over after a simple foul or players clutching their face after being clipped on the chest or shoulder.

The Joe Cole clip is also misleading. If it's the incident I think it is then he was clattered by an elbow and suffered concussion. It's certainly not unheard of for people to suffer a delayed reaction to such injuries and he took no further part in the pitch and wasn't back on his feet for 10 minutes or so.

-Once you go down, you go down. If you murder someone, it's no better if you clean up the scene and body afterwards

-And that's also the thing, of course there are many awkward injuries, or even loss of balances (especially when you're running, dribbling, and have people in the way/coming at you and the ball all at once), to the point where at times it can be impossible to know what someone is feeling or felt, but these explanations only seem to be found for the English.

It's really aggravating when you're watching a game and more than likely the commentator has a UK background or fascination, and an English player going down is either ignored or not getting a second look (I noticed the word dive isn't even used), but the foreigners are cross examined from every angle, ESPECIALLY during the Champions League or National Team games
