Default UnitedMania podcast Episode 55: The Man with the Yellow hat

The gang is back together for the first time in over a month and things simply don't change.

Mike and Chris at each others throats..

Martin bumbles through the English language.

Mike is wrong as usual and Mike is loud as usual.

Also, Bruce McGuire of www.duNord.blogspot.com joined us about halfway through the show to take us through his adventures in Mexico and gave his thoughts on the US - Mexico clash as well as the US' WC future.

Enjoyable show..

I re-listened to the podcast. Chris please explain why you think Soehn shouldn't be let go in the offseason.

At this point, it's hard to argue against keeping him around. However, if United loses the Open Cup final and fails to make the playoffs, I find it incredulous that the FO would keep him around.

That being said, even winning the Open Cup should not warrant his return. This team has to make the playoffs for him to keep his job.

What I am against is firing him right now, which is the point I was trying to stress during the show.

As far as I know, DC United is the ONLY team in MLS (aside from the new teams in the past 4 years - Houston, San Jose, Chivas USA, RSL, Seattle) who has never fired a coach midseason. I don't see United doing that. The only thing that could possibly do it is if United goes on a protracted losing streak (which would include a few of those matches being at home - where they are unbeaten in MLS play) of about 5 or 6 games and then the subject would have to be approached.
