What is this clubs identity?
After how many times Onionsack has been jumping up and down screaming like a man who is possessed I can definetly tell you what the identity of this club is.
THIS CLUB IS THE LOVEABLE LOSERS!
You heard me folks. The loveable losers because no matter how many times a new coach comes or a new GM comes they always find a way to get things wrong after a possible successful season. It doesn't matter if it's Sakewicz, Agoos, Osorio, Carlos Alberto Parreira, Bora, Stillitano, Kluge, Stubotnic, Lalas, AEG, Mo Johnston & deGrandpre these people will always find a way to screw it up and make us feel like crap no matter what happens.
How many times has the GM intentionally made his way to the field or to training and interfered with player acqusitions and they never do well. Or those strikers that have been good for us and never get the fair chance to continue their career here in NYC like Altidore, Savarese, and a couple of others that started here. Like Zavagnin & Hendrickson who never got a real chance and flourished somewhere else. To much ego going around within the front office and the coaching staff never looking eye to eye or never on the same page.
Now with the youth academy players that could have a chance to show something these kids are screwed as well because of either the coaching staff has no faith or the rules of the league will prevent them from actually being a part of the future for this club. The other thing that hovers over this club either as Metro, RBNY & or if Barcelona does purchase the club is the shadow of the Cosmos. If Barcelona does bring that shield back then they have to really clean up this mess first and bring in serious people to run it properly.
I don't want to hear the Cosmos is our identity because it's not. That identity went away when the NASL ended. It's not a continuation, While it's nice to see those players who wore the all whites in Giants Stadium return to say hello, that era is gone. Is it well known? Yes. But right now it doesn't make any money for the club, only in Pinton's pockets for his Cosmos Camps unless he ended it as well.
So as of right now the only people who can change this current feeling is Red Bull. Untill there is a sale Red Bull is in charge of finding a way to make this change, if they sell to Barcelona before 2010 starts then it's FC Barcelona who is in charge of fixing this mess.
Maybe it's time for Mike Ammann to become the Sporting Director and maybe it's also time for Richie Williams to become the head coach full time when 2010 starts. But for now we are the loveable losers and sadly it's everyone's fault for making a mess of things with the exception of Savarese, Mathis, Angel, Arena & Zambrano.

There is nothing to love about Red Bull or as JPA calls them "The Company". They are just losers.

so we might as well try to make it work... the next hiring has to be a good one because the fanbase as we can see is losing patience. It is one think to lose, but at least appear to be trying andhave a bright future but i cant even see the light

This club's identity can be summed up in one word - failure.
