Default After the World Cup, what players should we look at in the first year?

Some guys a lot of players suggest to be a part of the 2010 World Cup look to be on the outside looking in and also, although it's nearly impossible to predict our player pool for 2014...it's not so hard for 2010-2011.

Can someone that follows FC Dallas confirm Brek Shea's position? I know that he started out as a wing-back but that was at the u17 level, possibly before he grew up to be 6'3" and showing he's attacking abilities. When I saw him at the toulon tournament and the few times I've seen him play this season he played as a forward.

Also, I think Kamani Hill, Jared Jeffrey, and some of the u20 central defenders should be given a shot once they find a club. I'd also like to see Rogers with the full team, now that Beasley and Adu are out of the picture for the time being he should be given some time to absorb the pressure.

Hyndman and FCD have been trying to figure that one out. He's been at left mid the last coupling of games, but has been inconsistent (as you might expect from a young player). They've made room for him, though, by moving van Den Bergh into the middle.

It's still a work in progress.

I'd love to see him at left back, personally. However, FCD just went out and got a left back from Colombia (Benitez) who's played really well in his first couple of games. At forward I guess he could fill the "Kenny Cooper role," but FCD has looked so freakin' dangerous with Cunningham and Ferreira up there recently.

Just another problem young players in MLS face.

I would first prefer to hire an experienced good coach. Then that coach can work with our core players and slowly integrate any kids. We are not an old team at all right now. The only logical retirement would be Frankie Hejduk. Everyone else deserves a shot to continue towards 2014.

If they give him a chance I think he can do well in the middle. Thanx.

Mastroeni, too. Great servant to the USMNT, but his time may even be done already.

Keller hasn't "officially" retired, but he'll do that after WC10. No point in hanging on. And Hahnemann will surely retire too.

I'd also imagine Brian Ching will retire from the USMNT, as he'll be 32 by WC10.

Other than them, our roster is pretty darn young..........and set up to make a good challenge during the 2014 cycle.

A good experienced coach wouldn't need Ching to retire to quit calling him up. Nor would he look at 40+ goalies and call them in.

Mastro is another that would be a logical retirement though if he makes our WC team somehow.
