The Toronto/PR referee isn't wearing a badge.

How does having Ward on a Red Bulls match make any sense? It's an almost all-MLS crew on a match with an MLS team.

So the refs we haven't really seen at a high-level of WC Qualifying or at Gold Cup who appear so far are:

Delgadillo (MEX)
Geiger (USA)
Crus (CRC)
Bonilla (SLV)
Bogle (JAM)
Moncada (HON)
Lancaster (GUY)

The good thing about this tournament is that referees get more international experience and hopefully this leads to better officiating in future WCQ. Its obviously really difficult for some of the referees from smaller countries to competently make that jump without an intermediate step.

More brilliant stuff from CONCACAF. After an iffy (to be nice) performance in Mexico City, lets send Moreno to Columbus a week later.

Following the precedent of last year where Ward did Cruz Azul-Puerto Rico a week after doing the Honduras-Mexico match where Honduras scored some controversial goals.

To be fair, the assignment was likely made awhile ago--perhaps even before Moreno was named to go to Azteca.

Why do they appoint 'home' nation 4Os? Why can't they send a 4O from the same country as the rest of the officials? For one it's a great experience for a more junior FIFA referee to experience what it's like both on and off the pitch when you travel abroad to officiate for your confederation or FIFA.
