Re: 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup Thread
Great moment for Swiss football, cannot believe this is their first u-17 tournament. Give the Nigerians credit, they tried hard but too much shooting at will, just needed that killer pass that breaks down the defense.

Deserved win by the Swiss. The present of Helvetian football is good, but the future looks even better.

Re: 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup Thread
I think that Sani must have been reading too many of his press clippings. He tried to do too much himself. Swiss defense was so quick. Really is an impressive team. Nigeria is an explosive team, and the game should have come down to PK's I think that ball was over the goal.

Re: 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup Thread
Can't take anything away from Switzerland.... totally deserved tournament victory... they did it the hard way, beating the holders in the opening match, the hosts in the final and some big name teams along the way, Brazil, Germany, Italy and of course a 4-0 thrashing in their semifinal v Colombia. Congrats Switzerland... I guess it could have been the perfect weekend for Nigerian football but wasn't meant to be....

Re: 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup Thread
Wow, I never thought I could put 'Switzerland' and 'World Champion' in the same sentence - at any level.
Nigeria was probably the better team today (being the host nation helps of course) but I do think that seen over the entire tournament the title is well deserved.
Hopp Schwiiz!
