As others have said, that's not until later. A big part is that allows the team to have another publicity garnering event later on in the summer to get the team back in the news and create some buzz. Another part is that it allows the team to have some more time to get a shirt sponsor -- it is more valuable space if the sponsor is set with the original jerseys so I think they'll try to pull it off like Seattle did so that the original jersey has the sponsor already.

As an aside, is there a possibility that the uniform motif will actually be the dark blue with the light blue in the center with gold lining the central stripe? When you look at the MLS "brand narrative" page the background evokes that look.

i've been thinking the same exact thing ... still gives us the ajax-style that's very popular, and makes the light blue very prominent.

yup, was thinking the same thing. I actually like that much better than the "blue-gold-blue" that's been floating around.

also... I'm trying to remember the exact date that seattle got their kits. IIRC there was a presentation at Quest the same day as a MNT game (qualifier?.) Anyone with an updated adidas catalogue might be able to give us an idea what they'll actually look like.

I was very vocal about how much I disliked the team name & logo. Still don't like the name but I have to say that I'm amazingly suprised at how much better the official logo is. This real logo looks like PHILLY!

Crazy how a few color changes can make a logo look completely different. NOW I'm excited & can't wait to see what the jerseys look like. I'll def buy merchandise with this color combo.

*** notice I said JERSEY & not KIT. No autehntic Italian-American would EVER refer to it as a kit!

Is Navy Blue really going to be the main color of the jersey?
Too much like the Revs, Quakes and Wiz for my taste.

I'd sooner wear Amway as a sponsor, but yeah... nice.

To be honest, I'd prefer that it not be this setup -- I think the navy blue with gold central line would be better than dark blue and light blue. I personally dislike using two different shades of the same color.

That said, I'd prefer a light blue primary with a gold central line and navy blue accents. But it doesn't seem like that isn't going to happen. Maybe as a third jersey I can hope.

I tend to agree -- too much dark blue in the league. Though KC and SJ aren't the issue because there blue is much lighter than navy though there's too many dark jerseys in general. You have the Revs and away navy of LA and RBNY plus the black home of DCU and SJ plus the black away of Columbus. That's a lot of dark, difficult to distinguish jerseys.

A light blue primary with gold (or yellow) would very much stand out among all the MLS jerseys.

the alternate kit could satisfy the folks who want more use of the gold and light blue.

That's because the Union isn't encumbered with such trivial things like, roster, schedule, results, highlight videos, etc.....

Seriously, the site links to an online store. Is this the team's operation, or does it just a front for the crappy MLS store? It doesn't appear to be the league's but they could be trying to be tricky.
