When SGE was hired, I saw the logic in it. Mexico had probably gone as far as it could with a purely "Latin" way of playing and doing things. And with the Velas and Castillos coming up and more players in Europe, a European coach, they figured, would retain the essential Mexican characteristics and ADD to them, add a European mentality, diversify their style, add some mental toughness and ability to grind it out when necessary. Sort of like Capello has retained what is good about English football and added continental tactical insight. (And sort of like the US needs to add a heapin' helpin' of international sophistication, but I digress.) Instead, it looks to me like the reverse has happened. SGE has killed off the best parts of the Mexican style and retained the weaknesses. He's gotta go.

Im all for La Volpe or Aguirre, both their teams played pretty good soccer and the players already know how to play their system. It will be easier for them to get the coaches idea.
People who bring up Lavolpe and yet they mention how some players have to go and yet Lavolpe was totally in favor of them. Do you really think the domination of the seleccion by the "Marquez/Pardo/Oswaldo" group will diminish with Lavolpe? It would be the total opposite.
Honestly, let's all stop kidding ourselves. Mexico has played great football on occasion but has never been one of the best out there. Hugo didn't make the team elite, people thought it was his fault. Sven can't win away from home (all coaches have been able to win at home), and people think its his fault. Maybe it's time to realize that the coach has less to do with it than we think. The point of going to the WC is to win it. I don't see this team doing that in all honesty.
No matter who the coach is, it could be Scolari, Aguirre, Bianchi ect Pardo, Marquez and maybe Oswaldo will be there. You could bring a chinese coach and they would still call them up.
