Budweiser use to be on LA jerseys, I believe. Not on the chest but the lower back if I remember right.
However, I think you may be right about no beer companies being a main jersey sponsor. I could see the league stopping that kind of deal.

boulevard simply won't benefit from national exposure--they only sell regionally.
alcohol is ok, or was when they first started doing sponsors. hard liquor and pharmaceuticals are not.

Wow, I'm in the industry and I've never heard that opinion on either the prop/casualty or the life/health sides. For the sake of fact, last I checked, State Farm does have one of the better historical whole life products available for a stock company. They don't know how to market it, but that's another issue.

Yes, I agree.
The best thing KC has going with their recently defiled jersey is the script "Kansas City" across the front. The script is unique and iconic. It's the sole only reason the new logo doesn't completely suck balls in addition to being comically and cumbersomely oversized. The color today is a servicable but undoubtedly lesser blue. Then they see fit to add a yellow pipe stripe? Awful. All that bunk for the sake of killing the old King, pure ego that.
Anyway, rehash aside, if a front sponsor nixes the outstanding script KC not much of a redeeming value would remain. You can be disappointed in your children and still love them. The love doesn't negate the disappointment. Still, at that point it's every other blue soccer jersey, nothing special, maybe worse.
Slightly larger srcipt KC and a smaller badge would be worth a look. I'd also change the badge, but you know. The script KC is what works. It is the jersey.
Chicago already screwed this up so learn from the mistake. They had, by far, the best overall scheme of colors, name, logo, and jersey in MLS. Chants, among other things, lend themselves to that kind of synergistic quality. I'd argue yet again that Chicago Fire's brilliant original logo and color scheme was intrumental in the immediate robust growth of Section 8 and other fan groups, possibly even to the immediate success of the team.
Today, their jersey is a hideous joke with that plain best buy in small black letters replacing the flowing and unique bold script "F I R E" on the front. Disgusting! Local bar/rec league level garbage. The check couldn't possibly have been big enough to offset lost jersey sales and future synergistic conversion of the faithful lost along with their cash flows.
In '98, just one sideways glance across a bar without benefit of sound told you immediately it was The Fire. No question. One look at the logo and I couldn't help but be just a little interested if not maybe a bit jealous. The react was, wow, what's on their jersey? I want to see that up close in a tight shot. That's not bad. I had the same viceral reaction to seeing KC's original all-blues. For me, head to toe, they are the two best uniforms in league history and no others are even close. Those two are what you want on your personal fooseball table if you could get it.
Today, only for the sake of art, I wouldn't urinate on a Best Buy Fire jersey if it was acually on fire.
Another point might be percieved value over available value. No reason to sell front sponsorship undervalued. If that was the case I applaud the FO for not selling out the only remaining redeeming and unique feature of the home jersey.

Well, "VIAGRA" across the front would blend with the color scheme and be an endless supply of humor for all...
Sponsor on the back if needbe, paint a logo patch on each sidline...screw FIFA, come up with other ways to provide visual value other than front of a jersey.
Stick with the script "KANSAS CITY". White at home, blue away not black. It's the way it was meant to be.

Somebody forgot to explain this to Houston's shirt sponsor. Amigo Energy (as far as I can tell) sells only in Texas.
The different Comex paint brands all seem to be regional products as well. (Although definitely bigger than Boulevard's coverage area.)

I think the yellow piping is the best part of the new jersey. The rest of the jersey grew on me by the end of the season, but that badge has to go.
Also I don't really care for the "KANSAS CITY" across the front. I think compared to the current badge and the "KANSAS CITY" on the front I would prefer a "KC" script badge and 'WIZARDS" across the front. Better yet we should just design a real badge and advertise a charity on the front like Barca and Aston Villa. We should probably get a paying sponsor though being one of the lowest revenue teams in the league according to that forbes thing I've seen posted on here.

Re: Are we ever going to get a shirt sponsor?
I love the Kansas City across the front but it wouldn't be a terrible idea to put a non-for-profit on the front in the mean time if we aren't getting any offers.... United Way spends butt loads on ads as it is, maybe they would actually pay?

Well that's a reverse sponsorship though so it doesn't carry the stigma, if you will. Personally, I don't feel any stigma with a shirt sponsorship, but apparently some do. IIRC they pay unicef $1 million/season or thereabouts for the right to display the logo. Speaking of which, that would be awesome--not going to happen, but it would be pretty freaking sweet.
