Tobias Sippel turned down a Wednesday cap and returned from national team early because Luis Robles is experiencing back troubles. The coach could not afford to have Sippel injured in a Wednesday game prior to a Friday club game with Robles not 100%. The number 3 keeper, Trapp, is also away on National team duty.

Luis Robles is going to get his first cap with Kaiserslautern's first team on Friday at home against Rot-Weiss Ahlen. Tobias Sippel has the flu and is listed as 10%.

Robles to Start in Goal

Sweet so Luis will be the starter in this week's league match! He's played quite a bit with the reserves in the lower leagues and has quietly waited his turn. Let's hope he and FCK do well. Pick us posted on the match, Zak!

Game ended 4-1.

Congrats to Luis on making his first-team debut. Always a great accomplishment. And, of course, for getting the win.

BTW, Soccernet thinks Luis is the same Luis Robles who plays defender for Atlas in Mexico. If you click Luis' name in the lineup, it takes you to the profile for the Atlas player.

Maybe now that he's a first-teamer, Soccernet will fix that mistake and give Luis his own profile.

Robles played well, but was not called on to make too many saves. Kaiserslautern dominated play most of the game.

The goal happened on a corner. Robles came out to punch the ball away at full extension, but it looked like the ball was deflected off of someone's head just before he got to it. The ball landed at an Ahlen player's foot and he put it in. Even though there was a deflection, if he comes out he should have gotten it.
