Cauldron Season Tickets
So, as you are all abundantly aware, the world is about to end. As such, we're going to reduce ticket prices for season ticket holders (except grass berm) for 2009. I think we should have our information out in about a week. So we have about 750 Cauldron season tickets. Where would you price them if you wanted to sell out (remember, seasons not singles)? Collaboration and explanation welcome.....rh
As always, i reserve the right to listen and respond differently -

Re: Cauldron Season Tickets
I am probably gonna get strung up for saying this and guys dont beat me too hard at the tailgate next game but I think they were priced fairly well this year. If you do drop them, being able to get 2 or 3 tickets for under $500 would be nice.

Don't about the world ending yet Robb, it's not December 21, 2012 yet. We've still got a full 4 years left.

Re: Cauldron Season Tickets
Robb- If you have already decided to drop the prices I wont try and change your mind but I would say don't give away the house. In my opinion I would reduce the price to 275 and then create an incentive plan for season ticket holders that would allow addition refund/credit for every new season ticket holder they bring in. Example I pay $275 for my ticket then I have a friend purchase a new ticket that gives me an additional $25 off my season ticket or credit to my account that could be used for merchandise or food and drink at the game. Additionally you could accumulate points for merchandise purchased, additional tickets purchase etc. I feel this still maintains the value of the experience but helps use your fan base as additional marketing agents through a reward system. I think the idea of essentially being able to get a free season ticket just by talking to some people and trying to convince them to have become a cauldron member is quite appealing. I also believe that this method would potentially reach a more dedicated cauldron crowd so that we hit the target of 1000 or more core fans in the supporters section for the new stadium versus people that really dont want to be in the cauldron but want the cheapest ticket.
I am always considering a carrier change and could start in your marketing development department rather quickly. Thanks
This whole idea does depend on the continued use of money but I am sure that it could be adjusted to accommodate the need to trade in beans or tulip bulbs if things continue down this economic path.

Re: Cauldron Season Tickets
Robb,
I have a few suggestions (of course). My first suggestion would be to offer a discounted price for individual that buy multiple season ticket packages. Make the 1st season ticket "regular" season ticket pricing, and offer a deep discount on the second ticket. Few of us attend games alone, and a second ticket at a deep discount would encourage people like me to recruit a friend or family member to come along while providing you up front revenue regardless of our ability to make use of the second ticket.
If you want to offer just a flat bargain rate for all Cauldron season tickets, I have no idea what your business model is so have to go off of what my financial situation dictates I could afford. Personally, I would love to see a single season ticket package for around $250.00, but that may be unreasonable.
As long as you are seeking input about ticket sales, I would also suggest you have a meeting with whoever runs your website. Someone owes you an explanation as to why the LA special ticket offer is still at the top of the ticket page. I would also suggest you put some kind of ticket pricing information on the tickets page. Ticketmaster is great, but the casual fan does not want to put a bunch of research into finding out what it will cost to take the kids to a game. I would include season ticket prices in this as well. I made an attempt to do some research before replying to your post but could not find the current season ticket prices listed on the website. Kind of hard to show how inexpensive a Wizard's game day experience is when the casual fan has to hunt down information.
As always, thank you for seeking out the input of the fans.

Re: Cauldron Season Tickets
i found something pretty interesting this week...
i am currently in germany, and yesterday went to the schalke office to get tickets (my family lives in gelsenkirchen, where they play) and i could get tickets for behind the goal for 13 euros.
that's about 18 dollars, which is less than a wizards cauldron ticket!!
no i know we paid less for season tickets, but i thought it was interesting that i would pay more to see the wizards than i would to see a european football match in germany.
especially with the promotions that are going around, and people getting in cheaper to wizards games, i've felt like we have been taken advantage of a little with ticket prices.
lowering the prices will make the incentives higher for people to buy season tickets, and not having them feel like their getting ripped off.

Re: Cauldron Season Tickets
Something to add to the discussion. I was just invited to the Blues home opener. Let me get this out of the way first..I am aware that the Blues are a hockey team and in the NHL and what they do has no bearing on the MLS, so please don't flame me. Back to my point, the Blues this year are doing something with their tickets like "priceline". You go online and tell them what you would pay for a single game ticket, or season tickets, in a specific seat. They then respond yes or no. Just thought I would point it out as it is something new a professional team is trying and may be something for the Wizards to explore.

Re: Cauldron Season Tickets
What are the chances that we could get some separate pricing for kids tickets?

Re: Cauldron Season Tickets
200-210$ full season Cauldron
150$ half season
100$ for 5 game pack (includes parking passes)
20$ walkup price (better price for groups of 5 or more that buy tickets together - 5 is a doable number for a person to scrounge up on their own. 10-15 not so much.)
Make it a no brainer in terms of where you save. Reward those willing to come every game. You're going to make money off beer, food, and merchandise.
750 season tickets is a lot to sell for the Cauldron. It would be great if we can get there.
